The Message Sewn Into The Veil

------------------------

Exod 26:31 And thou shalt make a vail [of] blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work: with cherubims shall it be made:

Matt 27:50-51 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

Hebr 10:19-20 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

-------------------------------------------------

What is the message in Cherubims embroidered in the veil that ripped when Christ died?

We saw so much in the Word of God about the Tabernacle, how it ties in with the Garden of Eden.

And how the whole plan of salvation is getting back into the Garden again.

The entire Bible is a revelation of God’s restoration of what God gave to man that man forfeited for something less concerning himself.

That is why everything in Genesis is found again in Revelation at the end.

In our texts tonight, notice that Cherubims were sewn into the veil, the barrier, that stood before the Holiest of Holies.

And we find that this veil ripped open when Jesus Christ died.

The barrier was removed.

And of course this lines up with access to the tree of Life as found in Genesis, once again.

Gene 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Ezek 10:18-20 Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims. And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also [were] beside them, and [every one] stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD’S house; and the glory of the God of Israel [was] over them above. This [is] the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they [were] the cherubims.

The veil, upon which the cherubims were embroidered, was on the east side of the Most Holy Place.

And here in Ezekiels vision of a temple, we see the cherubims at the east gate of the Lord’s House.

They were at the east of the Garden of Eden.

Ezek 11:1-2 Moreover the spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of the LORD’S house, which looketh eastward: and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people. Then said he unto me, Son of man, these [are] the men that devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city:

So Ezekiel saw Cherubims at the east gate of the Lord’s House.

And then he was taken to the east gate and he was shown men that devise mischief in the city.

In other words, these men were ungodly men and such ungodliness caused the glory of God to leave the Temple.

The Cherubims were there at the east gate where these wicked men were, just as they were at the east of the Garden to protect the way of Life, when Adam was cast out.

They were always around the glory of God.

This morning we saw that the cherubims are the Church.

They are OF the mercy seat and IN the Mercy Seat.

The Mercy Seat is Christ.

The Greek word translated as Mercyseat is also translated as propitiation, and Christ is set forth to be a propitiation for our sins.

So Christ is the mercyseat for my sins.

The Church is IN CHRIST and OF CHRIST, as the cherubim were made OF the mercyseat and IN the mercyseat.

But here we see a veil with the pictures of cherubims sewn into it.

And Hebrews 10:22 said that the veil represents the flesh of Jesus Christ.

I was always wondering what reason cherubims were sewn into the veil of the holiest of holies.

Seek and ye shall find.

The veil is flesh.

When Jesus died on the cross, He opened the way up for us.

Recall that we also said today that THE WAY of the tree of life was being protected by the cherubims in the Garden.

And in Revelation 2 we find that God said those who overcome will eat of the fruit of the tree of life.

We therefore knew that the way to the Tree of Life was going to be accessible once again, by reading of it being protected in Genesis and by reading the idea of God granting people to eat of its fruit.

Adam could not eat of it after he sinned.

And God said to those who overcome, will He grant to eat of it.

Adam had sin and could not eat.

Those who overcome can eat.

Explanation?

It is as plain as day.

Sin is what keeps man from being able to pass through THE WAY and eat of the fruit of Life once again.

Sin is what must be overcome.

Read the following:

Roma 7:14-21 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that [it is] good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but [how] to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

Notice all the references to GOOD AND EVIL.

And in the middle of it all we read this:

"vv. 17-18 sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing"

Sin dwelleth in Paul.

In Paul’s flesh dwelleth no good thing.

And surrounding this discussion was this note:

Roma 7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

Roma 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

DEATH.

You read of good and evil, good and evil... and DEATH.

Sounds a lot like:

Gene 2:16-17 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

God said we would die if we ate of the knowledge of good and evil.

God does not want us concerned with good and evil, but LIFE.

Paul was all wrapped up in what was good and what was evil.

And the more he tried to be good, the more he tried to know it better, the worse he became.

The more fat you eat, the more fat you be.

The more death you eat the more death you experience.

And notice what goes along together with death:

Roma 8:2 ...the law of sin and death.

Sin and death go hand in hand.

Death came by sin (Ro. 5:12)

And that is exactly what God tried to tell Adam.

Paul found that SIN was in his flesh, and all his rants about what was good and evil did not help him at all.

In fact he wound up screaming, "Who shall deliver me from this body of death?"

Devil will use religion

Good and evil sounds so religious.

God had a tree of life, so the devil used a tree also.

But it is a matter of life, and not good or evil knowledge.

Flesh has no good thing dwelling in it.

Sin.

Now, Jesus’ flesh was seen in the veil of the temple.

When Jesus’ flesh died, the veil was torn open.

The veil, that had cherubims sewn into it, was torn open when Jesus died.

Adam could not go in because of his sin and the cherubims protecting the way.

Sin was in his flesh.

Paul felt he had to be delivered from that BODY of death.

That FLESH of death.

If he could only get out of his body so he could leave behind the sin that kept him out of the Garden so he could eat the fruit of life again!

He was dying.

And trying to eat of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, by his repeated stress on good and evil, was killing him faster and faster.

What could he do?

Who would deliver him?

Roma 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord...

God would deliver him!

Deliver him from the BODY OF DEATH.

How?

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Then we begin to read about something other than good and evil and sin and death.

Roma 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

LIFE, LIFE, LIFE!!

That is the form the tree of Life is in today!

God delivering us from the body of sin through Jesus Christ.

Through Jesus Christ, because one goes THROUGH a WAY.

And Jesus is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE!

7:25 Through Jesus Christ

8:2 In Christ Jesus.

Both speak about Jesus’ death.

Rule: Whenever you read about being IN CHRIST, it refers to having trusted in something so that it put you IN Him.

What is that SOMETHING that puts us in Him?

What has it got to do with the sin in our flesh?

What has it got to do with the deliverance from this body of death?

How does it get us past a barrier that keeps sin out?

That something is Jesus death.

When I was baptized, I was put into Jesus death.

Roma 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

When Jesus died, He died to set you free.

He died in your place.

You should have died, but He died.

The sin that was in your flesh, no matter how good you tried to be, no matter how you tried to Avoid evil, held you down tight!

Kept you out of the Garden where Life was!

Your sin brings death.

Death came by sin and death comes still by sin.

Sin is in your flesh.

And in a sense, God really did deliver you out of your sinful flesh, your body of death, because when you believed Jesus died for you, then you believed when He died, YOU DIED.

His flesh hung on the cross and died in YOUR PLACE.

And since it was IN YOUR PLACE, then it paid YOUR DEBT of death.

The Church is represented by the cherubim.

And the reason the cherubim were sewn into the veil, and the reason the veil was ripped when Jesus flesh died on the cross, was because my faith in Jesus caused me to have been crucified with Christ!

He was the veil, the flesh that died.

And I was in Christ when Christ died, because I believe He did it for me.

The cherubim were IN THE VEIL when it ripped.

That occurred simultaneously with Christ’s death.

WE DIED WITH JESUS CHRIST.

Mica 7:19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

I can imagine sin in my flesh like a flailing animal, screaming and retching, as God removes it from my life when I ask God to forgive me, when I take the opportunity of Christ’s death and pray for forgiveness.

My sin was taken by the hand of God out of me.

And though sin might scream and say it demands to stay there, and it has a right to stay there and damn my soul, God replies, "Wrong. The Son of God died instead of him (your name), and he (your name) accepted that. So when the flesh of the son of God died, he (your name) was in Him, and died with Him. And, sin, you can only have power over him (your name) until he dies. Guess what? He (your name) died today when he gave his/her life to Me and asked me to forgive him/her of all his/her sins. I got my payment, sin, and now you’re getting your’s."

And God hurls the sin around and throws it into the sea of forgetfulness, and that sea is as far from me as the east is from the west!

Mica 7:19 He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

The WAY opened up for me to go to the Tree of Life, and I came THROUGH JESUS’ DEATH.

He is the WAY.

I died with Christ because I was IN CHRIST.

Roma 6:3-4 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Removing the veil so the way into the Most Holy is opened again, is explained here.

Colo 2:11-13 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, [Baptism put me into Christ] wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. [God raised Him from the dead, and therefore it was an operation of God to raise ME from the dead, for I am raised WITH CHRIST] And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

All you have to do is truly believe there is no way for you to come to God and have eternal life except the death of Jesus Christ in your place.

Believe it enough that you will get buried with Him in water Baptism in His name.

You do it in His name, because He died and was buried FOR YOU.

And you are claiming that death for You by getting baptized IN HIS NAME.

You are saying out loud and clear, "Jesus died in my place, and I so much believe that I am being buried with Him right now, IN HIS NAME. So when you put me under, say it is being done ’IN JESUS’ NAME.’ For Jesus’ burial is MY BURIAL. He is the one that was buried for me. I want to be in His death. Nobody else’s death can do me any good. They all had sin. Jesus alone had no sin, for he never sinned. SO HIS DEATH is the one I am claiming as my own. So say His name loud and clear when you baptize me."

CHERUBIMS IN THE VEIL.

The church IN CHRIST.

Died with Christ.

That is why the CHURCH eats of the fruit of life and live forever.

Paul had to overcome the situation of sin in his flesh that kept him out of the way to the tree of life.

FAITH puts us into Jesus Christ.

We overcome by FAITH.

John 6:26-29 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

How do we get this LIFE?

What work do we have to do?

BELIEVE!

It causes the veil to rip and the barrier to go away for you.

You die In Him, and the sin that held you out is gone.
