Summary: how to discover God’s way of peace for your life

HOW CAN I FIND THE PEACE OF GOD?

Scriptural References: Php 4:6-7, Ps 100:3-5, Php 4:8, Jn 14:26-28

There is a peace that passes or goes beyond the normal range of our understanding.

There was peace in the garden of Eden - but it was lost. That peace was won back in a battle that

appeared to be finished on a hill called Calvary but the victory was shown complete three days

later at an empty tomb.

The peace of God comes from the presence of God

A -How do you lose the peace of God?

1 - through seeking to exalt yourself (example Adam and Eve - Ananias & Sapphira )

2 - through sinning among God’s people (example - Achan - King Saul)

3 - through iniquity - more than sin - bound in your heart

B - How do we get the peace of God?

1 - Be careful or anxious for nothing

merimnao (mer-im-nah’-o); to be anxious about from 3308 (through the idea of distraction)

a - stop worrying

b - it distracts you from the matters at hand

2 - In everything with prayer and petition ....

a - prayer and petition forces you to come into God’s presence

b - you begin to remember other peoples needs .... maybe - forget self for a moment

3 - by prayer and petition, WITH THANKSGIVING present your requests to God

a - thanks EVEN when worried? ESPECIALLY when worried!!

reminds you of your blessings

reminds you that God comes through when we trust Him

b - I will come into His presence with thanksgiving (example King David danced)

Ps 100:3-5

4 - the peace of God is found in the presence of God

C - What does the peace of God bring us?

1 - peace keeps your hearts through Christ

(Jesus ‘let not your hearts be troubled’ - God want peace for you ) Jn 14:26-28

2 - peace keeps your minds through Christ

a - stop thinking on the problem

b - start thinking on things of God

Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever

things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of

good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Do you have Jesus? Without Him there will be no peace like what I have spoken of.
