Summary: Out Of The Abundance Of The Heart The Mouth Speaks

Heart & Mouth Disease

I want to talk about Heart & Mouth disease.

Our text is in Proverbs 4:20-27.

I want to talk to you today about spiritual forces. There are spiritual forces that bring forth life and spiritual forces that produce death.

Faith, love, & joy are some examples of spiritual forces that produce life.

Fear, hatred, & bitterness, strife, & envy are examples of spiritual forces that can produce death.

We all have the choice of what forces we will live by.

I want to talk about life today, because I am interested in life.

Look at verse 23 of our text. Keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.

This text is not speaking about the organ in your chest that pumps your blood. But it is using the heart for an example to show us how important it is to guard our spirit.

Just as our natural heart furnishes blood and life to our body, the spirit maintains body and soul. The two have a lot in common.

Keep your heart with all diligence!

In other words, set a guard on your spirit!

Doctors claim that in the natural, what you eat affects your heart. The same is true spiritually.

Our text tells us that the Words of God are the food that brings life.

Look at verses 20-22. My son attend to my Words, incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health (medicine) to all their flesh.

Friend, there is a believer inside you. I mean, you can’t help yourself. You will believe something. You will either believe what the world says or you will believe what God says. But friend, you will believe something.

All creativity starts inside. Your heart, your spirit, is a spiritual production center.

Before an automobile was formed, it was inside someone. Have I lost you here?

Let’s try this. It is important to guard your spirit, because of what Matthew 12:35 says.

A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things. And an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Man’s heart has become a storehouse. The heart bringeth forth.

Your healing and your victory will begin in the spirit, so can your defeat, depending on what you have stored there.

Proverbs 23:7 says, As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.

What do you think?

I am more than a conqueror through Christ or I am always sick. I get the flu every year.

What is in the storehouse of your heart?

God has given us the ability to bring forth from the abundance of our heart and the words of our mouth.

Romans 10:10. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Heart & Mouth!

Mark 11:23. For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Believing, saying, having!

Matthew 12:34. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Your faith won’t rise above what you are saying!

What are you saying?

I am just an old sinner saved by grace. Which are you? An old sinner or saved by grace?

If you are born again, you are a child of the living God!

The Lord says keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.

He tells us to fill our heart with His Words, because in His Words are life, peace, and joy.

God told Joshua not to let the Book of the Law depart out of his mouth, and he would be successful.

The Bible tells us that by faith the worlds were framed.

I am going to say to you that by the abundance of your heart, by your faith, your world is framed.

What is issuing out of your spirit?

The Bible says we are snared by the words of our mouth.

We must give attention to God’s Word. We can only believe God for what we know He has said.

Your faith will not rise above your mouth.

In Proverbs 4:10 is the cure for heart & mouth disease.

Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
