Summary: A brief look at how Jesus lived

Subject life of Jesus

Our bible instructs us to walk as Jesus walked. You can find that in 1st. John 2:6 How did Jesus walk? Good question! Physically there are lots of different walking types

There’s the cool walk

There’s the quick busy walk

There’s the slow I’ve got all day walk

There the I’m coming through walk

There the side step

There the normal

How did Jesus walk physically I’m not really sure, even though I’ve viewed the Jesus video a number of times. But is 1st John 2:6 a reference to Jesus’ physical walking style? No of coarse not! I’m sure you all realize, I was only having some fun . Though how you walk may reflex some inner attitudes; so there is some value in the exercised

1st. John 2:6 Is telling us to live as Jesus lived. How did he live? to answer that all we need do is look at the scriptures. Luke 4:1 & col. 1:19 tells us Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit. Therefore Jesus walk full of the Holy spirit. That’s what God want’s from us.

What does it mean to walk full of the Holy Spirit? Gal 5:22. The walk or fruit of the spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Kindness, Goodness,. Faithfulness, Gentleness & Self Control. Did Jesus walk in these? you bet he did. Lets look at how he did briefly.

Love! Jesus expressed God’s Love perfectly. Jesus gave his life for us Matthew 20:28 “ Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as ransom for many”. No one took His life! He gave it up. John 10:18. Why did he do it? 2 reasons; 1 So you may have eternal life and; 2 So you would receive the Holy Spirit; John 7:39 thus then making it possible to be able to walk like He walked! In love. It was so important to Him that you do this, that he died so you could. This doesn’t mean we will not at times sin, but it’s Totally impossible to love as God does without the Holy Sprit.

Next Joy. Jesus walk in Joy; in fact he was and is our joy John 17:13 “ I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy, within them”. Knowing God is Joy.

Peace Jesus walked in peace; He was at one with God and fully God. again he is our peace, making us one with God; 2nd Cor. 5:18 “All this is from God, who reconciled the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them”. Our responsibility is to share this news of peace and make peace. We are to act in a way so to bring out the best in others, as salt does to food; ultimately leading them to Christ the prince of peace.

Kindness. Kindness was a way of life for Jesus. He did so many kind things for others; gave sight to the blind, the deaf their hearing, restored crippled legs, feed the hungry. but the one act of Jesus’ kindness that stands out for me, is when hanging from the cross he thought of his mum; you can read the account in John 19:26. Kindness is thinking of others; make it part of your life

Patience lets see an example of patience in His life. Matthew 26:36-47 Is an account of when Jesus ask his disciples to watch as he prayed, as He face his hardest trail; only to come back 3 times to find them asleep. He didn’t blow his stack or say well I’m not dying for this bunch of no hopers. Jesus being full of patience simply said, let us go, here comes my betrayer. We are to follow this example of patience with each other.

Goodness. Jesus in him no evil dwelt. Matthew 3:7. His Sinless life speaks for its self 1st Peter 2:22 ”He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth” Strive to be sinless.

.

Faithfulness. Jesus in human form was completely faithful to God. He was not part human and part Divine. He was completely human and completely Divine John 1:14 “The word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, he glory of the One and Only. Who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” Jesus was faithful to God; and truly represented Him. We too must strive to truly represent God to others as well.

Gentleness Jesus displayed Gentleness, Matthew 11:29; another wonderful example is the account of a women caught in adultery John 8:1-12 He had the right to have her stoned; however He showed gentleness. My guess is the women was moved so much by that act of gentleness; that she turned from her life of sin. Strive to be Gentle.

Self Control; is really talking about the control of the Holy spirit. It is listed as a fruit of the Holy Spirit, so when you read self control in your bible remember it’s referring to the Holy Spirit Control that you are to be in subjection to. The word self control can also be translated as to give oneself wholly to. Your own control outside of the Holy Spirit may change your actions; but it can’t change your heart. Did Jesus display this you bet. Remember when they came to arrest him and Peter sliced a piece of the high priest ear with a sword, Jesus said to Peter Matt 26: 52 “Put your sword back in it’s place. Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angles.”. That’s self control that’s God’s control
