The personal application of Jesus’ lordship is of pivotal importance

Jesus must be Lord of our lives.

How can we personally experience Jesus as Lord of our life?

5 affirmations of Jesus’ lordship.

1—Jesus’ lordship is experienced thru

MARRIAGE(:46)

—Explanation:(:46)

“And why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ & do not do what I say?”

Faith meets works.

Not once a week recognition

But continual living.

“Lord, Lord”—

Mat. 7:21—“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.”

“Do not do”—

Gal. 6:7—“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.”

Mat. 21:28-31—““But what do you think? A man had two sons, & he came to the first & said, ‘Son, go work today in the vineyard.’ “And he answered & said, ‘I will, sir’; & he did not go. “And he came to the second & said the same thing. But he answered & said, ‘I will not’; yet he afterward regretted it & went. “Which of the two did the will of his father?” They *said, “The latter.” Jesus *said to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax-gatherers & harlots will get into the kingdom of God before you.”

“What I say”—

Jn. 1:1-3—“In the beginning was the Word, & the Word was with God, & the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being by Him, & apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.”

Rev. 19:13—“And He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood; & His name is called The Word of God.”

—Argumentation:

Js. 2:14-26—READ—:17, 22, 26—“Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.”... “You see that faith was working with his[Abraham’s] works, & as a result of the works, faith was perfected;”....“For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.”

Mat. 7:21-22—“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, & in Your name cast out demons, & in Your name perform many miracles?’”

—Explanation/Argumentation:(:47)

“Everyone who comes to Me, & hears My words, & acts upon them, I will show you whom he is like:”

“Everyone/Whosoever”—

Jn. 1:12-13—“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Contingent—All have equal opportunity to choose either.

AMBITION(:48)

—Explanation:(:48) Drive/Desire/Intention

“...he is like a man building a house, who dug deep & laid a foundation upon the rock; & when a flood rose, the torrent burst against that house & could not shake it, because it had been well built.”

“Building a house”—Dwelling/Living place

1Cor. 3:12-13—“Now if any man builds upon the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it, because it is to be revealed with fire; & the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work.”

“Dug Deep”—Sought substance. If you can dig thru it(destroy it), its not worthy of your trust.

“Laid a Foundation upon the Rock”—Unmovable/Substantive

—Argumentation:

Isa. 55:6—“Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near.”

2Chron. 15:2—Prophet Azariah to king Asa“...the LORD is with you when you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.”

ADVERSITY(:48)

—Explanation:(:48) Foundation/Unshakable

“...he is like a man building a house, who dug deep & laid a foundation upon the rock; & when a flood rose, the torrent burst against that house & could not shake it, because it had been well built.”— KJV— “for it was founded on the rock.”

“A Flood/Stream/The Torrent”—

“Burst/Beat vehemently”—

“Shake it”—

Heb. 12:25-29—“...And His[God’s] voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “YET ONCE MORE I WILL SHAKE NOT ONLY THE EARTH, BUT ALSO THE HEAVEN.” And this expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, in order that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence & awe; for our God is a consuming fire.”

—Argumentation:

Ps. 46:1-7—“God is our refuge & strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar & foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. [Selah. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, The holy dwelling places of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered; He raised His voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. [Selah.”

Prov. 17:17—“A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.”

Job 5:7—“For man is born for trouble, As sparks fly upward.”

Jn. 16:33—“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”

1Jn. 4:4—“You are from God, little children, and have overcome them[antichrist]; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”

ETERNITY(:49)

—Explanation:(:49)

“But the one who has heard, & has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house upon the ground without any foundation; & the torrent burst against it & immediately it collapsed, & the ruin of that house was great.”

“Collapsed/Fell”—Unsupported

“Ruin of that house was Great”—Of eternal consequence

In spiritual matters, the personal loss of one’s “house” carries eternally devastating consequences. The ruin is undoable.

How similar must be the fate of the person who never even sees fit to come to Jesus, discarding the possibility of both hearing & acting at the outset.

—Argumentation:

Mk. 8:34-38—“And He summoned the multitude with His disciples, & said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, & take up his cross, & follow Me. “For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake & the gospel’s shall save it. “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, & forfeit his soul? “For what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? “For whoever is ashamed of Me & My words in this adulterous & sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

Jn. 14:3—“And if I go & prepare a place for you, I will come again, & receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

1Cor. 15:19—“If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.”
