Summary: We face many difficulties in life but we can learn from Genesis 18:14 that nothing is to hard for our Lord. We must trust Him in the difficult times.

Nothing is to hard for our Lord

Genesis 18:14 “Is anything to hard for the Lord”

v Have you ever felt like you just can’t do something?

v Like maybe you aren’t smart enough, or talented enough, or strong enough to do a particular task, or to do what you know the Lord wants you to do?

v Have you ever thought that something just can’t be done, its impossible?

v Maybe you are here and you feel like your life is hopeless, and your circumstances will never change.

v Perhaps you have been praying for a loved one and it seems like they will never get their life together, or that they will never get saved.

If any of these situations describe you today, You are not alone!!! God’s word says, “Is anything to hard for the Lord?” My friends the answer to that question is absolutely not, nothing is to hard for the Lord!

We need to only take our seemingly hopeless situations to the Lord, trust Him, commit them to Him, and allow Him to do what we cannot.

Are there situations that are to hard for us? Yes, but not for God.

A young, new preacher was walking with an older more seasoned preacher in the garden one day and he was feeling a insecure about what God had for him to do. So he inquired of the older preacher. This older preacher walked up to a rose bush and then handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing off any petals.

The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the will of God for his life and for his ministry. Because of high respect for the older preacher, he proceeded to try to unfold the rose, while keeping every petal intact…it wasn’t long before he realized how it was impossible to do so.

Noticing the young preachers inability to unfold the rosebud while keeping it intact, the older preacher began to tell the following poem.

“It is only a tiny rosebud,

A flower of God’s design;

But I cannot unfold the petals’

With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers

Is not to such as I.

God opens this flower so sweetly,

When in my hands they fade and die.

If I cannot unfold a rosebud,

This flower of God’s design,

Then how can I think I have wisdom

To unfold this life of mine.

So I will trust in him for his leading

Each moment of every day.

I will look to him for guidance

Each step of the pilgrim way.

The pathway that lies before me,

Only my Heavenly Father knows.

I’ll trust Him to unfold the moments,

Just as He unfolds the rose.

Can you identify with this young preacher? I know that I can. Not knowing what my future holds is unsettling at best for me right now, as I am sure it is for many of you. But tonight I want you to know that we can trust God to lead us, to provide for us, we can trust him with everything because nothing is to hard for him.

Let me tell you about my God…

v *My God not only created this world and everything in it out of nothing, but he also stuck around to love that creation and provide a way of salvation for every man, woman, and child.

v *My God, the God who provides salvation is also a caring God. In Isaiah 41:10 he says, “Fear not, for I am with you, don’t be dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen you and will help you with my righteous right hand.”

v *My God, the God who strengthens us is also a comforting God caring about even the sorrows that we go through. 2 Corinthians1:3-5….

v *My God, the God who comforts even teaches us to pray, and his son intercedes for us. Romans 8:26-28.

v *He is the God that helps us when we are suffering

v *He is the God that gives us guidance in times when a crucial decision must me made.

v *He is the God that protects us in times of danger.

v *He is the God that gives us courage in times of fear, peace in times of turmoil, rest in times of weariness, strength in times of temptation, warnings in times of indifference, and forgiveness - whenever we ask.

Is anything to hard for the Lord? No! I think not!

For from the time of creation until this day, He has never broken a promise, never acted unjustly, deceitful, or unloving.

In Psalms 99:9 it says that the Lord is Holy, in 1 Timothy it says that He is eternal, immortal, invisible and the only wise God. In Isaiah 45 it says that there is no other God and that we are to look to Him to be saved.

Is anything to hard for the Lord?

No, so let me ask you this, why do you act as if there are things in your life that God cannot change? Why do you think that there are things that even God couldn’t or wouldn’t understand?

v Do you think that he won’t understand your grief and so you keep it all bottled up inside of you. Remember God gave his son and watched as he was betrayed, beaten, and led to a horrible death.

v Do you think that our Lord doesn’t know what it is to be tempted? Don’t forget that he was tempted for 40 days and nights.

v Do you think God doesn’t know what it feels like to be lonely and alone? My friends, our Lord had no place to lie his head, no home – but heaven, and he was often found alone praying to His Father, which is what we should do when we feel alone, or lonely.

v Do you think our Lord doesn’t know what it feels like to wrestle with wanting His way vs. wanting God’s way? Don’t forget how he sweat great drops of blood in the garden of Gethsemane and said Father, if it be possible let this cup pass by me, but nevertheless, not my will, but your will.

v Do you think that God couldn’t possibly understand when you are falsely accused of something – Don’t forget how he also was falsely accused by his enemies, and yet he didn’t even open his mouth to vindicate himself.

The point is this…God can do anything and nothing is impossible for Him. There is nothing that you are personally going through that God can’t help you with, or that he wouldn’t understand. He is not some mean and angry God waiting for you to mess up so he can point a stick at you and punish you! He is a loving heavenly Father who knows you, knows your heart, understands you and is waiting to help you. All you need to do is to ask. Ask for his help, commit yourself to Him and trust that “Nothing is to hard for Him.

If today you need a miracle- remember nothing is to hard for God.

If you are in need of a special touch from Him –nothing is too hard for God.

If you need direction in your life – nothing is too hard for God.

If you need encouragement, strength, salvation, freedom from the bondage of sin, comfort, protection, courage. Nothing is too hard for the Lord.

If you need forgiveness, and feel so unworthy to go to a Holy God, remember that He was once a man like us and tempted in every way. Trust Him today and know within your heart, and with all of your heart that nothing is to hard for the Lord.

Do you know Him today? He is the best friend you could ever have, and whether you know him or not – my friends, he knows you!

There was a certain old recluse who lived deep in the mountains of Colorado. When he died, distant relatives came from the city to collect his valuables. Upon arriving, all they saw was an old shack with an outhouse beside it. Inside the shack, next to the rock fireplace, was an old cooking pot and his mining equipment. A cracked table with a three-legged chair stood guard by a tiny window, and a kerosene lamp served as the centerpiece for the table. In a dark corner of the little room was a dilapidated cot with a threadbare bedroll on it.

They picked up some of the old relics and started to leave. As they were driving away, an old friend of the recluse, on his mule, flagged them down. “Do you mind if I help myself to what’s left in my friend’s cabin?” he asked. “Go right ahead,” they replied. After all, they thought, what inside that shack could be worth anything?

The old friend entered the shack and walked directly over the table. He reached under it and lifted one of the floor boards. He then proceeded to take out all the gold his friend had discovered over the past 53 years – enough to have built a palace. The recluse died with only his friend knowing his true worth. As the friend looked out of the little window and watched the cloud of dust behind the relative’s car disappear, he said, “They should have got to know him better.

I ask you again, Do you know your heavenly Father? Do you know Jesus? Do you know that he loves and cares for you and that whatever your need is tonight you can give it to him and know within your heart that nothing is to hard for the Lord. There is great value in knowing our Lord, and great peace in knowing that nothing is to hard for our Lord.
