Summary: Easter Message

John 19:28-30

28Jesus knew that everything was now finished, and to fulfill the Scriptures he said, ¡§I am thirsty.¡¨„T 29A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. 30When Jesus had tasted it, he said, ¡§It is finished!¡¨ Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

In the Beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth.

And the creation was perfect as God is Perfect

- the landscape was perfect

- the sea was perfect

- the sky was perfect

And God created man and woman in His image¡Xhis perfect image.

And placed them in a garden¡X

- a beautiful garden,

- a perfect garden

- a garden that we have not been able to see

- a garden so perfect we could never imagine

And in that Garden God placed a tree¡Xthe tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil.

But the tree was declared off limits by God. All the trees they could eat from but not this one. Its fruit was not to be eaten.

But Adam and Eve were tempted by Satan to eat from the tree.

And they did.

Which initiated the curse of Sin to be passed down from Generation to Generation.

Sin that would take the life of Abel.

Sin that would build the Tower of Babel.

Sin that would make the golden calf and at Mount Sinai.

Sin that would kill Uriah.

Sin that would lead Babylonians to capture Israel.

Sin that would kill many Christians under the hand of Nero.

Sin that would burn 300 at the stake by ¡§Bloody Mary¡¨.

Sin that would lead Hitler to power.

Sin that would send two planes into the World Trade Center.

Sin that separates you and I from the heart of God.

Sin that must be paid for by our death.

And in the garden God pronounces judgment of Satan.

In Genesis 3:15 it says,

15From now on, you and the woman will be enemies, and your offspring and her offspring will be enemies. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.¡¨

And God looked down into the future.

And saw His Son

Dieing on a cross

Dieing to make men free from there sin.

Dieing to pay the penalty of sin.

Dieing so that we could have eternal life.

And our Jesus looked back through the halls of history to see that curse of sin and the promise to deliver us and says,

IT IS FINISHED.
