Summary: Things that can disqualify one from coming into the Holy of Holies.

Spiritual Birth Defects

There are many things that disqualify one from coming into the Holy of Holies.

We must understand those things that will keep us from coming before the throne to receive God’s direction.

Spiritual birth defects:

[LEV 21:16] And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, [17] "Speak to Aaron, saying: ’No man of your descendants in succeeding generations, who has any defect, may approach to offer the bread of his God.

[18] ’For any man who has a defect shall not approach: a man blind or lame, who has a marred face or any limb too long, [19] ’a man who has a broken foot or broken hand, [20] ’or is a hunchback or a dwarf, or a man who has a defect in his eye, or eczema or scab, or is a eunuch.

[21] ’No man of the descendants of Aaron the priest, who has a defect, shall come near to offer the offerings made by fire to the LORD. He has a defect; he shall not come near to offer the bread of his God. [22] ’He may eat the bread of his God, both the most holy and the holy; [23] ’only he shall not go near the veil or approach the altar, because he has a defect, lest he profane My sanctuaries; for I the LORD sanctify them.’ " [NKJ]

1. Blind - lacks vision

Where there is no vision the people perish, but he that keepeth the law happy is he. Pro 29:18

Vision for yourself, family, church family

Many Christians are up and down in their walk because they are not ardent pursuers of the Lord. The need is direction, purpose. God will continue to keep us expanding and developing us.

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heavens suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. Mat 11:12

The kingdom of heaven has been established by Jesus to be a powerful reigning and moving force among men.

Treatment: Be an ardent pursuer of the Lord for direction & purpose.

2. Lame - injured walk from falling into a pit.

Moving off of the Lords path will keep you from walkng upright and straight.

Treatment: Look before you leap. Know God’s direction and instruction then follow it.

3. Marred face - Flat nose - lack of discernment.

Affects our taste and with a bad nose you cannot discern what is tasteful or distasteful to the Lord.

Treatment: Listen continually to God’s Spirit speaking in regards to situations you are in or about to be in.

4. Limb too long. - out of balance.

Emphasis of certain truths to the exclusion of other truths.

Jesus is the Word, the whole Word, and rejecting part of the Word is rejecting part of Christ.

Lets walk in love instead of trying to walk in doctrine.

Treatment: Develop a balanced understanding of God and His ways. Use the entire bible from Genesis to Revelation.

5. Broken footed - unreliable

Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint. Proverbs 25:19

One who is always jumping into things too quickly with "The Lord spoke to me," then two or three weeks later is off in another direction. This person makes it seem that God has changed His mind again and again.

This causes pain to the person themselves and those about them

Treatment: Become a person of your word. Always do what you’ve said you will do. Don’t put words is God’s mouth.

6. Broken handed - inability to grasp or lay hold of things.

Letting truths slip out of reach and ending up as error.

Therefore we ought to more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip (from our grasp). Hebrews 2:1

Write down things so as not to be forgotten. Prophecy, word of knowledge, etc.

Let these things sink down in to your ears. Luke 9:44

Treatment: Pay close attention to what you’ve learned, holding on with intent and purpose.

7. Crooked back - unable to bear burdens

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22

The Lord is your strength and shield, your strong tower and buckler. He is a shield about you, your refuge and deliverer. Trust Him!

Treatment: Cast you cares on the Lord. Rest in His faithfulness.

8. Dwarf

Never fully grows up to the stature that is intended.

God expects growth:

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every kind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Ephesians 4:14

Treatment: Be ever pursuing growth. Allow God to stretch you. Study, pray, practice.

9. Blemish in the eye - Blind spots or hypocrisy.

Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. Matthew 7:1-2

Judgmental people judge so much, if not everything, by their own personal standard, not by God’s standard. Their standards account for many blind spots in their own lives.

We must learn to deal mercifully with people even in our own thoughts. If someone is severe or rough with you, try to be silent and pray. You don’t have to defend yourself, God is your defense.

Treatment: Trust God to defend you. Show mercy. Always esteeming others better than yourself.

10. Eczema, scurvy - Lack in diet

Need for spiritual nourishment not spiritual junk food.

When a Christian has no hunger for God, worshipping with the believers, Bible study or prayer, look at what the diet has been. A good diet produces health, a bad diet produces weakness.

Treatment: Feed on quality teaching. Don’t just look for teaching that feels good. Sometimes the best medicine tastes bitter.

11. Scabbed - Person who is touchy, oversensitive and easily offended.

Lives that still need healing. These spots cause ungodly reactions in our lives.

God wants to clean that wound and heal it.

Great peace have they that love the law (word); and nothing shall offend them. Psalm 119:165

Treatment: Allow God to search your inner being and heal all the hurts many of which are hidden.

12. Eunuch - inability to reproduce.

God Requires Fruit! We cannot be spectators. He requies that we be active participants in what He is doing.

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman (or vinedresser). Every branch in me that beareth not fruit He taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit He purgeth it (prunes it), that it may bring forth more fruit. John 15:3-5

We must be ready for pruning even if painful at times. We must reject any thoughts of independence from God. We must be increasingly deepening our relationship with Jesus Christ.

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; so shall you be my disciples. John 15:7-8t

Treatment: Abide in the Lord continually so that you will bear much fruit. Fruit that will remain!
