Summary: What can we do to render to God a thanks, praise, or worship that will approach what He is truly worthy of?

AN UNCOMPARABLE PRAISE FOR A INCOMPREHENSIBLE GOD

WHY TO PRAISE THE LORD:

FOR SUSTAINING LIFE: Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord (Psalms 150)

FOR INFINITE MERCY: O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. (Psalms 136:1)

FOR ABIDING FAITHFULNESS: Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. (Psalms 36:5)

FOR INCOMPREHENSIBLE HOLINESS (SUBLIME OTHERNESS): O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth. (Psalms 96:9)

HOW TO PRAISE THE LORD:

A. APPLAUSE

Psalm 47:1 Oh clap your hands, all ye peoples; Shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

Yet He is worthy of more than we offer to sport champions.

B. BOW

Psalm 95:6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

Yet He is to be reverenced more than an earthly potentate

C. SING

Psalm 30:4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

Psalm 47:6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

Yet He is more lovely than the fairest of lovers

D. DANCE

Psalm 149:3 Let them praise his name in the dance: Let them sing praises unto him with timbrel and harp.

Yet He is to be celebrated with greater joyfulness than earthly festivals

E. UPLIFTED HANDS

Psalms 134:1-2 Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the house of the LORD. Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.

Yet He is to be feared and surrendered to more than an worldly terror

F. PROCESSION

Psalms 68:24 O God, your march of triumph is seen by all, the procession of God, my king, into his sanctuary.

Yet His exploits are far mightier than temporal heroes

G. LIFE’s WAGE

What if you worked all your days and laid up every penny you earned into a stocks and real estate? And that investment grew at astronomical interest rates. 210 Billion Dollars would be the inheritance you laid up for your children (assuming you saved every penny tax free and earned $20K per year). That inheritance would represent every hour you worked, every morning you woke up, every nicety you sacrificed. In essence, you would leave your children the net worth of your life.

A PRAISE THAT HE IS WORTHY OF:

REVELATION 4:10-11

10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

The only praise we can render to God, that will approach what He is truly worthy of, is that praise in heaven. When we take the wage and reward for all of our labor in this life and lay it at His feet. I do not want, on that day, to have nothing to worship with. I want to worship with a life bountifully overflowing with worshipful works that give Him glory and please Him.
