Ephesians 6 10-18 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints--
Some Christians do not even know that they are to be on guard of Satan and his demons.
Getting thrown to and fro in the winds of life. Being smashed as waves on the side of a ships hull in a great storm
They do not know that they need to be ready of an attack and be able to defend themselves.
Always on guard 24 / 7 ready at a moments notice to do battle.
Satan is a very powerful being. His power today in the earth is growing stronger
just look at our world today
We alone as humans in our own strength cannot protect ourselves from all the satanic forces against us.
We give our power over and we let the enemy do with what he wants with us
Most of the time with out a fight
We as Christians are called to fight using prayer and the word of God
Fight the Good fight of faith
Without Christ we are going to become easy prey for Satan and the horde from hell .
Slaughtered for his amusement, for a his demonic purpose
To rob you of the blessing of God …. never ceasing to obtain his calling and rob you of yours
Look in I Peter 5:8 "8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Who is willing to be eaten by the enemy today to give over friends …family or children ?
The devil is not any kind of a wimp or cartoon character as some people may think,
The media plays him as a foolish childlike being of no power just there for our amusement
This so we aren’t afraid… Something we play with…. like a child’s board game
He is in our homes schools and in our lives if we let him.
He is not cute fun or pretty little doll
Something to dress as on Halloween
He is an angry evil being….. Looking to take you down …Steal from you …
Pull you away from the Lord and your potential in Him
I. Why do we need the armor of God…. why are we to be always at the ready?
A. Verse 11 "that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."
This refers to the craftiness and the wickedness of the devil. How he deceives us to do his bidding
B. Verse 12 "against spiritual wickedness in high places."
1. Demonic activities.
2. Evil people against God.
To ones trying to lure you away they are all about you…
C. God wants us to be ready for a fight, a spiritual fight.
Ready to do battle 24 /7
II. What is the armor of God?
A. Loins of Truth - it protects our vital areas. Truth holds our life together.
John 14: 6 "6 Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.."
He is the truth and only through Him can you obtain eternal life.
B. Breastplate of Righteousness - it protects our heart and other areas
that may cause death if wounded. That vital areas like our heart and lungs
Take away a mans heart … what he loves
or his lungs his ability to breath
You have stopped a man from doing anything you control him
Doing right will protect our heart from evil.
C. Feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace - it protects our
Stand in our beliefs.
D. Shield of Faith - our faith in God will help protect us from the evil
E. Helmet of Salvation - it protects our lives from the devil ..keeping our minds clear always ready to hear the word of the Lord..
Because it is one thing that we can NEVER lose our ability to hear God and hear him clearly
F. Sword of the Spirit - it helps us attack those that tempt
us and to cut to the hearts of those that hear the Word of God.
III. Why are there more defensive materials than there are offensive material?
A. Devil is quick and powerful. He is a lion seeking whom
he may or can devour.
B. You may not even know you are being attacked because
fiery darts can be shot at you from quite a distance.
You need to always have your spiritual guard up. 24 / 7
Conclusion:
God gives all of the amour and we are to have them on and be
holding them.
It is our responsibility to have the armor of God on and to be
ready to be attacked.
If we have all these on then we are ready for the attack of
the devil, his demons, and those fiery darts.
We may not all know how to attack with the Sword of the Spirit, that is why we have the rest of the armor.
If we are not ready or know how to properly use the Sword Of the Spirit,
then we need to, according to
2 Timothy 2:15 " 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
" When we have all of these parts of the armor then we are, as said in
Eph. 6:10, "strong in the Lord and in the power of His might."
Who is willing to put their armor on today and wear it proudly?
