Summary: We often hear folks try to justify or minimize their sins by declaring: "I’m only human!" This outline seeks to expose the flimsiness of excuse making.

ONLY HUMAN…NO EXCUSE FOR SINNING!

“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.’ So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Genesis 1:26-27

I. Created in the image of God:

God could have paid no higher compliment to the human race than to have created man in His own image and likeness. God the Father, referring to the trinity of the Godhead, employed the term "Our" as to the image and likeness in which He would create man. Thus man, created in the image of God, is trinitarian: body, soul and spirit. "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit…" Hebrews 4:12

II. Created “a little lower than the angels.”

“What is man, that Thou dost take thought of him? And the son of man, that Thou dost care for him? For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and Thou hast crowned him with glory and honor. Thou hast made him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands.” Psalm 8:4-6

III. Shall one day judge the world:

“Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters.”

I Corinthians 6:2

IV. Shall one day judge angels:

“Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?”

I Corinthians 6:3.

Compare this verse to: "For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment…." II Peter 2:4

V. The object of God’s love and redeeming work of Christ:

We have to begin this thought with John 3:16. Paul declared: "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
