Summary: Most of us would agree that our nation has been blessed beyond measure but we must remember that "to whom much is given, much will be required". We must not lose sight of this basic Bible concept if we hope to have the abundance of blessings to continue.

“BLESSED IS THE NATION"

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.” Psalm 33:12

Introduction: Most of us would agree that our nation has been blessed as no other nation in history. We have been blessed materially, geographically, educationally and technologically but unless we return to the Biblical principles upon which this nation was founded, we may have already witnessed the high water mark of our national glory.

I. The nation “whose God is the Lord” will reject the false gods so noticeably present in our country today.

The god of material wealth

The god of worldly pleasure

The god of worldly approval

The god of athletic excellence

The god of physical appearance

The god of power and influence

II. Blessed is the nation that exalts righteousness.

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” Proverbs 14:34

“The nations and kingdoms which will not serve Thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly destroyed.” Isaiah 60:12

III. Blessed is the nation whose trust is in God.

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” Psalm 20:7. The Living Bible translates the thought beautifully: “Some nations boast of armies and of weaponry, but our boast is in the Lord our God. Those nations will collapse and perish; we will arise to stand firm and sure!” Psalm 20:6-7 [Living Bible].

Our currency states: “In God We Trust”. As a nation, and as individuals, we need to trust God:

As a nation: For our national preservation

As individuals: For the forgiveness of sins

As individuals: For the needs of life on a day-to-day basis…and

For spiritual strength to live the Christian life in an unfriendly world.

“Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in Him, Because we have trusted in His holy name.”

Psalm 33:20-22 .
