Summary: A message on the Name of Jesus and it’s importance.

His Name

By:Charlse Kyle

Matthew: 1:21 And she shall bring forth! a son and His Name shall

be called Jesus; for he shall save his’ people from their sins.

Luke 2:21, his Name was called JESUS,

I want to say at the beginning of this morning that there is a great importance attached to a Name. There is no more important word in the English language than your name. The sound of your name has a ring to it that you like to hear over and over. Successful salesmen will tell you and have learned to use your name in the selling of a certain Item.

History abounds with the names of men who affected it’s course drastically, the name of Columbus, Alexander the great, Washington, Luther, Calvin, Cortez, Stalin, Hitler, Churchill, Martin Luther King, Nixon and Reagan. All of these Names are written into the history books, as men who stepped out in time and were luminaries in time.

They stepped out in time and for a time they lit the paths of men.

But you see they were as falling stars, they lightened up the Horizon for a time, but when they burned out they left a darkness greater than when they came.

Time is the great spoiler, Names either fade away or they become entombed in a dusty reference book stuck away on some shelf. The Names that are applauded today will be forgotten tomorrow and we may search for them as time Marches on, and we march with it.

Every time I go to the cemetery that silent city of the dead, I’m reminded of the temporariness of this life. I’m reminded that prince and popper alike are buried there, and they have one thing in common their Names will be no more.

In a northeast Texas town in the cemetery there on a granite block there is the heading of a very noble man. The writing on that beautiful stone reads "Sam Rayburn the speaker

of the House, As some of you may remember he was referred to in congress of the United States as Mr. Sam maker of President’s. There was a time that this influential man had such a hold over the congress and the affairs of this nation, until you could not be President without his sanction or without his blessing.

As you look at that stone you are also reminded that he died just like any other man, You were Powerful, you were influential you made Presidents and broke men that dared to defy you but you died one day and they laid you in a grave and your name will

be forgotten, it’ll be relegated to some History book.

I’m here to tell you that nearly 2 thousand years ago a man stepped out on the scene of time, a man stepped out to break the stony silence for 400 years man had not heard from God, there was prophetic silence, there had been no Open Vision, there had been no word from Throne of God, and man struggled along in the dryness of religious routine, he struggled along in the deadness of religious dogmas and credo’s.

And suddenly out yonder in a barn in Bethlehem the cry of a babe pierced the night and heavens a cappella choir stood on the balcony of the glory world and sang "Glory to God

in the Highest peace on earth good will toward men” And Yonder in the satanic underworld came a cry, a cry that was from the very throat of Satan himself as he recognized that" The Champion of Champions had been born and ,no longer .that he would dominate or domineer men, that his power was broken, that his strength

was weakened, that Jesus Christ would ultimately defeat him on the cross of Calvary.

And bring to men a lift from their sin and bring to man Joy for sorrow, Light for darkness, help for the Helpless, he knew his Power and his kingdom would soon be coming to an end.

Yes there was a name that the world awaited to hear.

Other names had come and gone and they had left nothing but spiritual darkness in their wake.

Men had heard of:

Moses and the bulrush

They’d heard of Daniel in the lions den

They’d heard of David in the Valley Ella

Jona and the Whale, and the Tears of Jeremiah.

These names were great and hold their place in faiths hall of fame.

But they could not remove the burden of sin.

They could not exchange guilt for grace; they could not straiten a crooked life, or bring Happiness to a broken heart.

Other great men have stepped out on the stage of time and they have done what they could to heal Humanities hurt. But Guilt stubbornly refused to lose her hold upon the heart of Humanity and just when it looked like the nightmare would never end. Just when

it seemed the pain would never cease, just when it seemed the loneliness would never go away.

God ushered in His Son out on the stage of time, to in act the drama of the ages and the Angels said" And thou shall call his Name Jesus; for he shall save his people from their sin"

There is no sermon, no sentence; there is no society, no song or system that’s complete outside of Christ. For as calcium is to lime, as carbon is to Diamonds, as truth is to history, as the needle is to the compass, as the blood is to the vein, as the sap is to the tree, as the tide is to the ocean, and sunshine is to the flower, so is Christ to the heart of society and the soul of Man.

Charles Spurgeon that great preacher of England said many years ago “I would no more go hear a man preach, if he did not preach about Christ than I would go to a bakery and buy bread from a baker who left the flour out of the Bread. "

I’m trying to tell you church, Christ is the focal point of the Gospel message.

Everything revolves around him. Everything revolves around his ministry. God set the stage of time, God called out the nation and deposited divine truth, within their bosom for the express purpose of one day ushering into the world a son, Jesus, that would come to save men from their sin and deliver them from their bondage.

I want to tell you his Name is Jesus today; his Name is Jesus, today.

And when he was born God shattered the silence, he had left man alone in silence, but now he shattered the uneasy silence with the Dramatic entrance of his Son.

And the Bible says" Wherefore god also hath highly exalted him, and hath given him a name above all other Names, That at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow of things in heaven and things in earth and under the earth."

“The world longed for a perfect man, the world longed for a faultless man but the great hero’s of Faith were not perfect.

Their lives were blemished there was something wrong with each of them.

When you look thru the word of God you find many had faults. If you were to take a search warrant and start at the beginning of the bible you’d find:

Adam whose fault was Unbelief

Noah whose fault was to much wine

Abraham whose fault was fear for personal safety

Isaac whose fault was the Love of good food

Joseph whose fault was spiritual Pride

Moses whose fault was Impatience

David whose fault was lust of the flesh

You’d find Solomon whose fault was a desire for new things

Elijah whose fault was self pity

Isaiah whose fault was unclean lips

Jonah whose fault was stubbornness

Peter whose fault was self trust

James and John whose fault was ambition

You’d even find Paul whose fault was an Independent Spirit

They were just men who God highly anointed yet, none of these men could pay the bill that was owed, none of them would suffice, it took a man from another world. It took a

Man from outside this planet we call earth. I want you to know Jesus was that heavenly astronaut. He made the journey from Heaven to Earth, and from earth to the grave, and from the grave down into hell, and from hell back to earth and from earth back to glory.

Jesus made the full circle and he did not need any help doing it. When they laid Him in the grave the kingdom of satan rejoiced, they sealed His tomb with the seal of an empire and satan said “I am done with him forever.” But I want you to know that the rock on the outside was a pebble compared to the Rock of Ages on the inside.

He was a faultless man, His name is perfect and holds no inferiority to it, nothing in His name speaks of lack, for there is no lack in Him for He is the fullness of God.

Dr. S M. Lockridge shared this with a group of people, about how his people were upset that he was not at the church a lot. So he shared with his people this story. He said he was

sitting in an airliner the other day waiting for take off when I looked out the window and saw the Pilot joking with the ground crew as they were servicing the plane prior to take off. They were checking the tires and seeing that everything was in order. When I looked up and out the window to the cockpit was still open and he was still joking with the ground crew, but all of the sudden that captain of that airliner straitened up, put on his head set, for you see the man in the control tower was giving him his instructions for his take off, he stopped joking with the ground crew, nothing was light and frivolous anymore, for you see he had instructions and it was time to get down to business for he had received his instructions from the man in the control tower. I am of this opinion church it’s time we stop taking our instruction from the ground crew, and start listening to the man in the control tower for it’s just about time to take off! It’s just about time to take off!

I am told that when that pilot rolls that plane down the runway he comes to a place and stops. I understand by those who are knowledgeable in such things that when that pilot reaches a certain point that the pilot pulls the controls back towards him and the nose of

Jet begins to lift toward heaven and he says into the microphone to the control tower "I am Committed"! "I am committed"

He’s simply saying I’ve got to go up, if I don’t I’m going to go down. I believe the

cry of every Christians heart should be I am Committed. One of these days this spiritual planes is going to receive it’s instructions and we’re going to rise!

God Named his son with a Name and it cannot be duplicated it cannot be erased, it cannot be defeated, it cannot be forgotten nor can it be ignored.

The Name of Jesus cannot be duplicated because you see Jesus is the Pearl from paradise, the Gem from glory land, he’s truth’s fairest Jewel, he’s Times choicest theme

He’s Life’s strongest cord, Life’s clearest ray, he’s Purity’s highest peak, he’s ,he’s Joy deepest tide, he’s glories stately summit, mathematically his Name is the decimal point between time and eternity, cherish his name and you’ll see a rainbow in every could,

Pray in his name and the gates of Impossibility will swing open and bid you enter, Stand in his name and the hounds of Hell that dog your footsteps will bow down at your feet and lick your hands.

There’s Power in that name, that Name cannot be duplicated other men have come and other men have gone, other names have flung out upon the Horizon of time, but the Name of Jesus lives on ,because it’s a living Name, It’s a durable Name, because it’s an eternal name, Because it’s a name of God only begotten Son.

The Cross couldn’t kill it

The Grave couldn’t Keep it

and Satan could defeat it

It is said;

Jesus is the center of life geographically, because he was born in the geographical center of the earth, Jesus is the center of literally because he created the earth, Jesus is the life religiously because he is the head of the church, Jesus is the center of life scripturally for he is the essence of the bible, Jesus is the center of life spiritually for he satisfies the God shaped vacuum in the soul of man, Jesus is the center of life eternally for he is the light of Heaven, That is why we preach Christ because without him, life would be like a Big jig saw puzzle with half the pieces missing. Without him life would be just a cruel hoax that God has played on man.

You cannot erase his name

There’s no way you can erase his Name, for you see if you tried, you’d have to pull up all the lilies of the valley, for he said I’m the lily of the valley. You’d have to cut down all vines cause he said I’m the true Vine, You’d have to stop eating bread cause he said I am the bread of Life, you’d have to destroy all the rocks because he’s the rock of ages, you’d have to cut down all the trees cause he’s the tree of life, you’d have to put the sun out of existence, but he’d still exist as the son of Righteousness with healing in his wings,

you’d have to remove every door because he’s the door thru which every man must enter to be saved, you’d have to kill every choir member, you’d have to tear up every song book, you’d have to burn every bible made in the last1900 years and after you’ve done all this, along comes some little holiness saint and you’d hear " there’s... a Name I love to hear I love to sing it’s worth, It sounds like music on my ear it the sweetest Name on earth" ! ! ! !

You Can’t Erase his Name! You can’t erase His Name!!!

Cesar was the Emperor of Rome; But Jesus is the King of Kings
