Story of Two Boys Fighting About Daddies.

Daddy competitions are for the birds. BUT, there is one daddy who really is Big Daddy. God is greater, stronger, faster, smarter, bigger, and can beat up anybody’s daddy.

Deuteronomy 3:24 "O Sovereign Lord , you have begun to show to your servant your greatness and your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do the deeds and mighty works you do?”

Psalm 9:9 “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.”

Psalm 62:11-12 One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving. Surely you will reward each person according to what he has done.”

One important thing you must know about your Daddy is that not only is He a Dad that protects, but He’s given you His Strength to protect yourself. Here’s what I like to call the 4 Self Defense Techniques:

1. Make Him Your Strength

Psalm 27:1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation- whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid?

Psalm 52:6-8 “The righteous also shall see and be in reverent fear and awe, but about you they will laugh, saying, ‘See, this is the man who did not make God his strength (his stronghold and high tower) but trusted in and confidently relied on the abundance of his riches, seeking refuge and security for himself through his wickedness. But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in and confidently rely on the loving-kindness and the mercy of God forever and ever.’”

2. Use Your Strength

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”

(Amp) “I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].”

John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.”

3. Don’t Abuse Your Strength

Judges 16:4-21 “4After this he loved a woman in the Valley of Sorek whose name was Delilah. 5And the lords of the Philistines came to her and said to her, Entice him and see in what his great strength lies, and by what means we may overpower him that we may bind him to subdue him. And we will each give you 1,100 pieces of silver. 6And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray you, wherein your great strength lies, and with what you might be bound to subdue you. 7And Samson said to her, If they bind me with seven fresh, strong gutstrings, still moist, then shall I be weak and be like any other man.

8Then the Philistine lords brought to her seven fresh, strong bowstrings, still moist, and she bound him with them. 9Now she had men lying in wait in an inner room. And she said to him, The Philistines are upon you, Samson! And he broke the bowstrings as a string of tow breaks when it touches the fire. So the secret of his strength was not known. 10And Delilah said to Samson, Behold, you have mocked me and told me lies; now tell me, I pray you, how you might be bound. 11And he said to her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that have not been used, then I shall become weak and be like any other man.

12So Delilah took new ropes and bound him with them and said to him, The Philistines are upon you, Samson! And the men lying in wait were in the inner room. But he snapped the ropes off his arms like [sewing] thread.

13And Delilah said to Samson, Until now you have mocked me and told me lies; tell me with what you might be bound. And he said to her, If you weave the seven braids of [the hair of] my head with the web. 14And she did so and fastened it with the pin and said to him, The Philistines are upon you, Samson! And he awoke out of his sleep and went away with the pin of the [weaver’s] beam and with the web. 15And she said to him, How can you say, I love you, when your heart is not with me? You have mocked me these three times and have not told me in what your great strength lies. 16And when she pressed him day after day with her words and urged him, he was vexed to death.

17Then he told her all his mind and said to her, A razor has never come upon my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my birth. If I am shaved, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak and be like any other man. 18And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his mind, she went and called for the Philistine lords, saying, Come up this once, for he has told me all he knows. Then the Philistine lords came up to her and brought the money in their hands. 19And she made Samson sleep upon her knees, and she called a man and caused him to shave off the seven braids of his head. Then she began to torment [Samson], and his strength went from him. 20She said, The Philistines are upon you, Samson! And he awoke out of his sleep and said, I will go out as I have time after time and shake myself free. For Samson did not know that the Lord had departed from him. 21But the Philistines laid hold of him, bored out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza and bound him with [two] bronze fetters; and he ground at the mill in the prison.”

If you’re distracted by the world, you let it go to your head, and your eyes are taken off of God, you can’t use His strength; then you’re left with what you can do in the natural, and that’s just not gonna cut it. If you’re not relying on His strength, and depending on the power that He’s given to you in Christ, you are WEAK.

4. Fuel Your Strength

In order to get stronger, you need to have a workout program. If you sit around on the couch watchin’ MTV and eatin’ potato chips all day, you’re gonna be fat and weak. You need to get pumped.

Ephesians 6:10 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.”

How do you get pumped? Spend some time with the Trainer.

Luke 2:39-40 “And when they had done everything according to the Law of the Lord, they went back into Galilee to their own town, Nazareth. And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace (favor and spiritual blessing) of God was upon Him.”

Your workout= Your time spent w/ God

How many sets and reps should I do? It depends on where you’re at. Take a self-examination. If you can bench 100 lbs ten times, then do it. If not, drop it down…15 min. Bible study. 10 minutes praying. 2 minute confessions. Whatever you need to get started.

Have a workout partner. It’s all about accountability. They don’t help you lift the weights. They make sure you actually lift the weights. Find someone that will commit to checking up on you once, twice, three times a week. Find somebody that you can call when you’ve got too much weight on the bar. You need help. Workout story.

Watch What You Eat.

Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”

You can’t expect to be strong and overcome if you don’t chew on the Word. If you constantly eat “junk food,” you won’t be spiritually fit, and when the enemy comes, He’ll overcome you. If you don’t watch what you eat, you won’t know that the enemy is under your feet.
