INTRODUCTION:

I believe one of our Greatest Blessings is the written word of God. It is through this written word that we find the answers to the questions of life, how to please God, and how to find true peace and happiness. Today the sermon will focus totally on what the scriptures have to say. This will be a sermon composed of only Scriptures. It is a collection of Scriptures to complement and explain each other, and hopefully help us to see the beauty of the Word of God. I trust that all of us will profit from it. I will be reading, so no effort is made to impress you with my learning but to help you be impressed with the truth and beauty of the Word of God. I will not be giving the references, but if you would like a copy of the sermon today I will make it available to you.

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" (Gen 1:1).

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets many times and in many different ways. But now in these last days God has spoken to us through his Son. God has chosen his Son to own all things, and through him he made the world. The Son reflects the glory of God and shows exactly what God is like. He holds everything together with his powerful word. When the Son made people clean from their sins, he sat down at the right side of God, the Great One in heaven. (Heb 1:1-3).

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. (John 1:1-5).

So the Word became human and lived here on earth among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father. John pointed him out to the people. He shouted to the crowds, "This is the one I was talking about when I said, ’Someone is coming who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before I did.’" We have all benefited from the rich blessings he brought to us--one gracious blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses; God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. (John 1:14-17).

Jacob was the father of Joseph. Joseph was the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus. Jesus is called the Christ.” (Matt 1:16).

"And we have believed and have come to know that You are the Holy One of God.". (John 6:69).

"And a voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son, and I am fully pleased with him.". (Matt 3:17).

"While Peter was talking, a bright cloud covered them. A voice came from the cloud and said, "This is my Son, whom I love, and I am very pleased with him. Listen to him!” (Matt 17:5).

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." (John 3:16,17).

What I say is true, and you should fully accept it: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst". (1 Tim 1:15).

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" (Rom 3:23).

"Then Jesus said to them again, "I am going away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your sin. Where I go you cannot come." (John 8:21).

"Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me". (John 14:6).

"For people can’t come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them from the dead. As it is written in the Scriptures, ’They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who hears and learns from the Father comes to me.". (John 6:44,45).

"He is "’the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.". (Acts 4:11,12).

"For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? After it was at the first spoken through the Lord, it was confirmed to us by those who heard,;" (Heb 2:1-3).

"And now Christ waits there for his enemies to be put under his power. With one sacrifice he made perfect forever those who are being made holy.". (Heb 10:13-14).

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God". (Rom 10:17).

"So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him". (Heb 11:6).

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see". (Heb 11:1).

"Jesus did many other miracles in the presence of his followers that are not written in this book. But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. Then, by believing, you may have life through his name". (John 20:30,31).

"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;". (Eph 2:8).

"After all, God’s saving kindness has appeared for the benefit of all people. It trains us to avoid ungodly lives filled with worldly desires so that we can live self-controlled, moral, and godly lives in this present world.;" (Titus 2:11,12).

"You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. You know that Christ was rich, but for you he became poor so that by his becoming poor you might become rich.". (2 Cor 8:9).

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.". (Rom 5:8).

"But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.". (Heb 2:9).

"Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him;" (Heb 5:8,9).

"just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."". (Matt 20:28).

" This is what real love is: It is not our love for God; it is God’s love for us in sending his Son to be the way to take away our sins. ". (1 John 4:10).

"If you love me, keep my commandments". (John 14:15).

" I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. ". (Luke 13:3).

" "Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all everywhere should repent,:" (Acts 17:30).

" "All those who stand before others and say they believe in me, I will say before my Father in heaven that they belong to me. ". (Matt 10:32).

" For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. ". (Rom 10:10).

" Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." ". (Acts 8:37).

" Then Jesus came to them and said, "All power in heaven and on earth is given to me. So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything that I have taught you, and I will be with you always, even until the end of this age.". (Matt 28:18-20).

" He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. ". (Mark 16:15,16).

" He said to them, "It is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that a change of hearts and lives and forgiveness of sins would be preached in his name to all nations, starting at Jerusalem. ". (Luke 24:46-47).

Peter’s words convicted them deeply, and they said to him and to the other apostles, "Brothers, what should we do?" Peter replied, "Each of you must turn from your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you and to your children, and even to the Gentiles--all who have been called by the Lord our God." Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, "Save yourselves from this generation that has gone astray!" Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church--about three thousand in all. all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved. (Acts 2:37-41, 47).

" For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,:" (Col 1:13).

" Did you forget that all of us became part of Christ when we were baptized? We shared his death in our baptism. When we were baptized, we were buried with Christ and shared his death. So, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the wonderful power of the Father, we also can live a new life. ". (Rom 6:3,4).

" But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. ". (Rom 6:17,18).

" For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. ". (Gal 3:26,27).

" Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, ". (Rom 8:1).

The wrong things the sinful self does are clear: being sexually unfaithful, not being pure, taking part in sexual sins, worshiping gods, doing witchcraft, hating, making trouble, being jealous, being angry, being selfish, making people angry with each other, causing divisions among people, feeling envy, being drunk, having wild and wasteful parties, and doing other things like these. I warn you now as I warned you before: Those who do these things will not inherit God’s kingdom. But the Spirit produces the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. There is no law that says these things are wrong. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their own sinful selves. They have given up their old selfish feelings and the evil things they wanted to do. We get our new life from the Spirit, so we should follow the Spirit. ". (Gal 5:19-25).

Because of this, make every effort to add integrity to your faith; and to integrity add knowledge; to knowledge add self-control; to self-control add endurance; to endurance add godliness; to godliness add Christian affection; and to Christian affection add love. If you have these qualities and they are increasing, it demonstrates that your knowledge about our Lord Jesus Christ is living and productive. If these qualities aren’t present in your life, you’re shortsighted and have forgotten that you were cleansed from your past sins. Therefore, brothers and sisters, use more effort to make God’s calling and choosing of you secure. If you keep doing this, you will never fall away. Then you will also be given the wealth of entering into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. ". (2 Peter 1:5-11).

" Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. ". (2 Tim 2:15).

" All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. ". (2 Tim 3:16,17).

" "This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts so they will understand them, and I will write them on their minds so they will obey them." Then he adds, "I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds." Now when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more sacrifices. And so, dear friends, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. This is the new, life-giving way that Christ has opened up for us through the sacred curtain, by means of his death for us. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s people, let us go right into the presence of God, with true hearts fully trusting him. For our evil consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near. ". (Heb 10:16-25).

" And on the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul began talking to them, intending to depart the next day, and he prolonged his message until midnight. ". (Acts 20:7).

" The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ??” (1 Cor 10:16).

" While they were eating, Jesus took some bread and thanked God for it and broke it. Then he gave it to his followers and said, "Take this bread and eat it; this is my body." Then Jesus took a cup and thanked God for it and gave it to the followers. He said, "Every one of you drink this. This is my blood which is the new agreement that God makes with his people. This blood is poured out for many to forgive their sins. ". (Matt 26:26-28).

" Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,;" (Eph 5:19).

" Now I will write about the collection of money for God’s people. Do the same thing I told the Galatian churches to do: On the first day of every week, each one of you should put aside money as you have been blessed. Save it up so you will not have to collect money after I come. ". (1 Cor 16:1,2).

" You must each make up your own mind as to how much you should give. Don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves the person who gives cheerfully. ". (2 Cor 9:7).

" What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. ". (1 Cor 14:15).

" "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." ". (John 4:24).

" Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. " (John 17:17).

" "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." ". (John 8:32).

" Brothers and sisters, the thing I want most is for all the Jews to be saved. That is my prayer to God. I can say this about them: They really try to follow God, but they do not know the right way. Because they did not know the way that God makes people right with him, they tried to make themselves right in their own way. So they did not accept God’s way of making people right.." (Rom 10:1-3).

" "Not all those who say that I am their Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven. The only people who will enter the kingdom of heaven are those who do what my Father in heaven wants. ". (Matt 7:21).

" I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith." ". (Rom 1:16,17).

" And God will provide rest for you who are being persecuted and also for us when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven. He will come with his mighty angels, in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who don’t know God and on those who refuse to obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power;" (2 Thess 1:7-9).

Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,:" (1 Cor 15:1-4).

" Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. ". (Rom 6:3-4).

And this is a picture of baptism, which now saves you by the power of Jesus Christ’s resurrection. Baptism is not a removal of dirt from your body; it is an appeal to God from a clean conscience. (1 Peter 3:21)

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.". (1 John 1:7-10).

" My dear children, I write this letter to you so you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have a helper in the presence of the Father--Jesus Christ, the One who does what is right. He is the way our sins are taken away, and not only our sins but the sins of all people. We can be sure that we know God if we obey his commands.". (1 John 2:1-3).

" Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.". (Rev 22:14).

" Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.". (1 Cor 15:58).

" Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.". (James 5:19,20).

" Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light."". (Matt 11:28-30).

" And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.". (Rev 22:17).

" God is ready to help you right now. Today is the day of salvation.." (2 Cor 6:2b).

" Now, why wait any longer? Get up, be baptized, and wash your sins away, trusting in him to save you.’". (Acts 22:16).
