A Vessel For God
2 Timothy 2:19 ¶ Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
I. A Fancy Vessel
A. Those with all the talent.
1. Useless without God.
2. Full of themselves.
B. Those with the money.
II. An Empty Vessel
A. May look good (Avon bottle)
B. No real substance. (Hypocrites)
III. A Broken Vessel
Psalms 31:12 I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.
A. Empty because of damage.
B. No one cares.
C. God can use it.
IV. A Moldable Vessel
Jeremiah 18:2 Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
A. Willing to do as God says.
B Willing to go where God sends.
C. Willing to give all to God.
