Summary: We need to get our minds off of sharing gossip, recipes, and social sagas and get them on sharing Jesus.

WHO IS JESUS

One of the saddest things happening in this country today has to do with churches.

Today church houses are more of a social club than a place where God’s people gather together to repent, fellowship, praise, and worship Him.

You hear people all of the time talking about what’s going on and who’s who down at the church.

Who’s talking to who, who’s wearing what, who’s buying what, who’s going where, and who own whatever.

We need to get our minds off of sharing gossip, recipes, and social sagas and get them on sharing Jesus.

You’ve seen the cartoon where the mother or daddy sends the little boy after something and he’ll do everything and go all the way around the world before he gets back. I get the feeling that God may see our lives being conducted like that sometimes.

Well all of that is funny in the comic strips and children do that a lot. But my friends this is real life here. Real human people, human souls, real short time that’s running out. The Lord Jesus Christ is coming back shortly and we need to be busy about sharing Jesus.

You and I both have family, friends, and neighbors that are lost and on their way to Hell. People we work with, go to school with, play with, people that sit beside us on the church pews. People need Jesus. We, God’s people, need to be busy about sharing Jesus.

God has never commissioned the lost world to come in here to the church. He’s commissioned the church to go out there to the lost world.

A while back I was in a class at the Golden Triangle Baptist Missions office. We had a Brother Atkins there that night. Bro. Atkins was at that time the head of evangelism over the state of MS. He came up from the Baptist building in Jackson to talk with us that night. He threw out some statistics to us that night. One stat. he threw out was quick to catch my attention.

Did you know that in the state of MS alone there are 1,180,000 known, confessed lost people. That means that out of the next 100 people you come in contact with 50 of them are going to Hell. If you go over to Wal-Mart and pick out 10 people 5 of them will be lost and on their way to Hell.

Lost people go to a devil’s Hell. Hell where the fire and brimstone is not quenched. The worm dieth not. Hell that is forever and ever eternal. To Hell, a place where God is not. Eternal separation from God.

"Go ye therefore and teach all nations." Let’s get busy about sharing Jesus.

Now let’s take a look at who Jesus is. If we’re gonna be talking about Him and sharing with people we know and love it’s a good idea to know who this Jesus is.

Who is Jesus?

1. He’s the son. Matt.1:23,24.

Jesus is the son of man. He is also the son of God. He is 100% God and 100% man. Don’t ever forget that. Don’t ever doubt that.

He’s the son of mankind. Specifically the son of a virgin who gave birth to Him, by the name of Mary. He had a Heavenly Father, God Almighty. He had an Earthly mother, Mary. He’s 100% God and He’s 100% man.

You’ll notice that every time that Jesus refers to Himself He refers to Himself as the Son of Man. He made no bones about telling the people that He and God the Father are one. But He referred to Himself as "The Son of Man". I believe to show humility. Jesus was a humble man. He’s the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Prince of Peace and He was humble.

He came into this world by the humblest of means. Born a little baby in a mule barn. He went through the same process of growing as a child. He walked to and fro upon the earth. He hungered and thirsted. He cried. He bled just like you and I do. He could walk down a gravel road and get a stone bruise just like you and I do.

He’s 100% man.

He’s also the Son of God. A part of God Himself. The Bible tells us that Jesus is God. God Himself took on human flesh to walk the face of this earth, to teach, and fellowship with His most precious creation.

Matt. 3: 16, 17. God announced this to the world Himself. This is My son and I am very pleased.

2. Not only is He the Son of man and the Son of God. He’s also the Savior.

What does that mean? The Savior. Webster defines the word savior with two definitions. 1. rescuer. 2. Christ.

Christ is "The" Savior. He is the rescuer.

If He is the "Savior", the "rescuer", what has He saved us from? Matt. 1: 21

He saves us from our sins. Why sins? Because God hates sin. Because the wages of sin is death. But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Sin makes us undone, incomplete, lost, unworthy, and unable to stand in the presence of the most Holy and Righteous God.

You remember Lazarus and the rich man died. The Bible says that the angels carried Lazarus up to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man went to Hades. He asked Abraham to send Lazarus to dip his finger in some water and touch his tongue because he was tormented so. Abraham said, "No. This cannot be. There is a great gulf between you and him and it’s fixed. So there’ll be no traveling back and forth.

Right now Jesus is the bridge across that gulf. Because when you place your faith in Him to save your soul eternally He takes your soul to the Heaven side of that gulf. He saves you from the Hell side.

Right now is the time for you to place your trust in Him because you’re just one breath, one heartbeat away from spending eternity on one side or the other.

Hebr. 7: 25

He is able to save from all sin to the uttermost, in all places, at all times, and under all circumstances. The condition of salvation is coming to God by Him. He’s the Savior.

Not only is Jesus the Son - The Son of man as He labeled Himself, The Son of God as God the Father Himself labeled Him.

Not only is Jesus the Savior - Luke 9: 56 Jesus speaking of Himself, tells us, "The Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them."

3. He’s to be shared. Acts 1: 8

Share Jesus. We need to be busy about sharing Jesus. It’s like what are we waiting on? Why wouldn’t we share Jesus? He’s the best thing a person could have, is to have Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

He’s the best. He’s better than the fried chocolate pies that my mama used to make. He’s better than homemade ice-cream.

He’s better than Chevrolet. He’s not just like a rock. He is the rock.

He’s the friend that sticks closer a brother. Jesus tells us from His own lips in His own words from His great big heart that when we become His, that we’re His friends. Not servants but He calls us friends.

Tons of churches are being closed down and sold. Preachers and ministers getting out of the ministry by the hundreds. Mormons, Jehovah’s witnesses, and other cult memberships are growing by leaps and bounds. And a great number of those members are ex-Southern Baptist.

We have record numbers of divorces. Prisons and jail cells are jam packed. Babies killing babies. Armed guards walking the halls of our schools.

Drugs, alcohol, and sex being abused by people trying to find something to fill a void place in their lives.

The number of hours spent in psychiatric care and treatment is skyrocketing. People desperately searching for someone to give them direction. Where to go. Who to turn to.

The Bible tells me that God is not the author of confusion. God is not the cause. He is the answer. God Himself in the person of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the answer to any question you have. He’s the answer to any problem you have. He’s all you need.

He’s the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He’s everything in between. Jesus is the only one you can depend on and trust in. He’s the friend that sticks closer that a brother. He’ll never lie to you, steal from you, cheat you. He’ll never stab you in the back.

He’s the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He’s the prince of peace. He’s eternal, omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient.

He’s creator, supporter, and preserver of all things. He’s one with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.

He’s Jehovah the eternal one.

He’s Jehovah Elohim the I Am that I Am.

He’s Jehovah Jireh our provider.

He’s Jehovah Yahweh The Lord.

He’s Jehovah Nissi our banner.

He’s Jehovah Shalom our peace.

He’s Jehovah Rapha our healer.

He’s Jehovah Tsidkenu our righteousness.

He’s Jehovah Shamah He is present.

Jesus is God. He’s God yesterday. He’s God today. And He’ll still be God tomorrow.

You can’t impeach Him. He’s not stepping down. you can’t fire. He’s not going to resign. He won’t run from you. You can’t hide from Him.

My friends what are we waiting on? Jesus is all we need. He’s all I need. He’s all you need. He’s all our family, friends, and neighbors need.

HE IS THIS AND MORE

He is the First and Last,

the Beginning and the End!

The world can’t understand him,

The armies can’t defeat Him,

The schools can’t explain Him,

and the leaders can’t ignore Him.

Herod couldn’t kill Him,

The Pharisees couldn’t confuse Him, and

The people couldn’t hold Him!

Nero couldn’t crush Him,

Hitler couldn’t silence Him,

The New Age can’t replace Him,

and non-believers can’t explain Him away!

He is Light,

Love,

Longevity,

and Lord.

He is Goodness,

Kindness,

Gentleness,

and God.

He is Holy,

Righteous,

Mighty,

Powerful,

and Pure.

I serve Him because His bond is love,

His burden is light,

and His goal for me is abundant life.

I follow Him because He is the Wisdom of the wise,

the Power of the powerful, the Ancient of Days,

the Ruler of rulers,

the Leader of leaders,

the Overseer of the overcomers,

and the Sovereign Lord of all that was,

and is and is to come.

And if that seems impressive to you,

try this for size . . .

His goal is a relationship with me!

He will NEVER leave me,

NEVER forsake me,

NEVER mislead me,

NEVER forget me,

NEVER overlook me,

and NEVER cancel my appointment

in His appointment book!

When I fall, He lifts me up!

When I fail, He forgives!

When I am weak, He is strong!

When I am lost, He is the way!

When I am afraid, He is my courage!

When I stumble, He steadies me!

When I am hurt, He heals me!

When I am broken, He mends me!

When I am blind, He leads me!

When I am hungry, He feeds me!

When I face trials, He is with me!

When I face persecution, He shields me!

When I face loss, He provides for me!

When I face Death, He carries me Home!

He is everything for everybody,

everywhere,

every time,

and every way.

He is God!

He is Faithful.

I am His,

and He is mine!

So, if you’re wondering why I feel so secure,

understand this . . .

He said it and that settles it.

God is in control,

I am on His side,

and that means all is well with my soul.

Church. Don’t let this beautiful church be just a social club where we gather to swap recipes and catch up on the latest news. Let’s make it a house of worship and fellowship with God our Lord and Savior. Lets make it a place where the fruits of our labor will be evident by bringing new faces in here seeing them walk down this aisle giving their hearts and lives to Jesus. Baptizing them and making disciples of them so they’ll be equipped to go out and do the same.

Folks let’s get busy about sharing Jesus.
