Summary: This is a topical message on places Christ sat that has meaningful application.

Where Christ is Seated

John 4:5-6

What is the number one problem the choir faces?

I’d say ....it might be finding a seat when they get done singing in the AM service and want to come down and sit in the congregation.

Some have said I saw some folks come in and look around and not finding a seat they left.

> Not a problem in the PM<

But think with me about that person or persons who might come in and look around and not finding a seat leave.

What if that person was contemplating suicide and we missed a chance to minister.

What if that person came to church that day because there spouse had packed their bags and walked out Friday night and now that person didn’t know where to turn.

What if that person doesn’t know Jesus and is on their way to Hell and we didn’t have a seat for them.

Well...what are you saying preacher you want me to sit on the floor? You want me to stay home so their will be more room for others...ho no oh no....

I’m simply saying be conscious of the space you are occupying...where is your purse, your Bible, your coat...make room for others however you can ...

..Jesus Did!

Scoot a little closer to those folks on your left or right...I might ask you to hold hands with them as we pray put I promise I will never ask you to greet them with a Holy Kiss.

So let’s think from God’s Word not about us directly but about where Christ has been seated and is seated and will be seated.

Let’s begin by considering those places where Jesus was seated.

I. HE WAS SEATED AS A WEARY SAVIOR because

He was seated in human form... John 4:5-7

John 4

5 So He came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph;

6 and Jacob’s well was there. So Jesus, being wearied from His journey, was sitting thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

What is the point? The point is that Christ wanted to relate so perfectly to you and me and to everyone ....that he wrapped Himself in human flesh to come and live the life of man to experience hunger, pain and wearying (exhaustion).

How does this speak to you and me.

When we endure great pain...or great suffering...when our body aches or our heart breaks we can remember that Jesus was the God man who thought it not robbery to set aside His glory and to come and dwell in human form.

He has identified with us and so we can identify with Him.

II. HE WAS SEATED AS THE POWERFUL TEACHER

JOHN 8:1-2

1 But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 Early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people were coming to Him; and He sat down and began to teach them.

Teaching here involves two people not always the case some say I taught myself to play piano I never had a lesson.

But teaching by enlarge involves the attention of one or more and the instruction of another.

There was none, is none, nor ever will be a wiser teacher than Christ Himself.

Jesus can teach you things that don’t appear in the Sun School quarterly

He can teach you things the SS teacher cant and teach you things your pastor cant.

Some things can only be taught by the master.

The master teacher Himself the Lord Jesus.

What many people discover is that they went to all the human and earthly resources they could to find ...only to find the lesson they needed could only be understood and taught by the master teacher.

III. JESUS WAS SEATED IN BEING THAT APPROACHABLE INDIVIDUAL TO OTHERS

Does the Bible say Jesus spent all His time hanging out with the well to do religious leaders.....No it does not.

MT 9: 9-13

9 As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew, sitting in the tax collector’s booth; and He said to him, "Follow Me!" And he got up and followed Him.

10 Then it happened that as Jesus was reclining at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were dining with Jesus and His disciples.

11 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, "Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?"

12 But when Jesus heard this, He said, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick.

13 "But go and learn what this means: ’I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT SACRIFICE,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Jesus wasn’t afraid to sit down with those who were

different from Him and offer them hope and peace in theirlife.

Perhaps its time that instead of isolating ourselves from all the cootie germs of the ungodly that we just cant bring ourselves to associate with that we become like Jesus offering them friendship, hope and peace.

I always remember watching as people file into the classroom the first day of college.

I saw some would file into the room and move off to the corner they were closed withdrawn from others.

When will be realize that if we are to be used to increase the Kingdom of God that we must stop thinking of the Church ..... as a Country club for the Spiritually Saved and instead start thinking of the church as a place of healing for the spiritually sick and needy..

IV. JESUS SAT IN THE CENTER OF FULFILLING

SCRIPTURE JOHN 12:12-16

12 On the next day the large crowd who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

13 took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began to shout, "Hosanna! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, even the King of Israel."

14 Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written,

15 "FEAR NOT, DAUGHTER OF ZION; BEHOLD, YOUR KING IS COMING, SEATED ON A DONKEY’S COLT."

16 These things His disciples did not understand at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of Him, and that they had done these things to Him.

ZECH 9:9 is the OLD testament part of this a mirror

Everything the Scripture has said about Jesus has either already come to pass, or is soon coming to pass.

His Word is truth as He is truth and nothing will go unfulfilled.

V. JESUS IS SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD

COL 3:1

1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

You might say well why is that so important it’s important because you want to be there some day

With God with Jesus

Some people get all bent out of shape they say With

God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit 3 in 1.

How many will we see when we meet HIM or them in that day

Does it really matter just as long as you are with God???

My best guess by you are going to see two but don’t

sweat the little things sweat the more important matters.

LIKE JUDGEMENT

VI. Christ is Seated in Judgement upon others

MT25;31-34....41-46

BECAUSE OF WHERE CHRIST IS SEATED WE COME BACK FULL CIRCLE TO ASKING OURSELVES WHERE AM I SEATED

Am I a Goat or A Sheep

Which am I living like...???

IN RESPONSE TO WHERE YOU ARE SEATED AND WHERE CHRIST HAS BEEN SEATED AND IS SEATED WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO IN RESPONSE???

Where is your heart seated?

Seated in seeking Jesus?

Seated in Serving Jesus?
