Voting

Intro:

This coming Tuesday, November 5 is Election Day.

As a pastor I cannot tell you directly who to vote for but I can show you from the scriptures how you should vote.

In fact, it is my duty to do so because I am to preach and teach the whole counsel of God.

Government is one of the three institutions ordained by Almighty the others being the family and the church.

Scriptures on Government

Romans 13:1-7

1 Timothy 2:1-4

We are commanded to pray for our leaders.

We are pray for them to be saved.

Acts 5:29

I. Economic Issues Vs. Moral Issues

Often people will vote for a candidate based on whether or not that person promise to put more money in their pockets.

Promises to improve the economy so people will be able obtain more material things.

Often this is done without any regard to the candidate’s character or stand on moral issues.

Scriptures

Matthew 6:33

God promises if put Him first, obey Him, live for Him then he will provide our material needs.

Proverbs 14:34

Notice what makes a nation great.

Although I do believe a righteous nation will receive the blessings of God of which economic wealth is one.
