Summary: DON’T BE FEARFUL OF THE ENEMY!

DON’T BE GIANT BAIT!

NUM. 13: 33And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

ILL. [OF SOMEONE SHOWING FORTH COURAGE]

THE PROBLEM IN NUM. 13, WAS NOT THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO PHYSICALLY OVERCOME THE ENEMY. IT WAS THAT THEY WERE ALREADY OVERCAME WITH FEAR, FROM THEM LOOKING ON THE PROBLEM.

TODAY, WHAT GIANT IS IN YOUR WAY, IN SERVING JESUS?

I.THE GIANT OF LAZINESS- MAT 21: 21Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. 22And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

A. DOUBT- IS A GIANT, IT CAN AND WILL MAKE YOU LAZY.

B. DISTRUST- IS A GIANT, WE MUST TRUST IN CHRIST, ONLY IF WE SEE JUST A BIG GIANT! MAT 14: 29And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

II.THE GIANT OF LUNACY- I COR 3: 18Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. 20And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

A. LEAN NOT UNTO OUR OWN UNDERSTANDING- PRV. 3: 5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

B. OUR WAYS AREN’T GOD’S- JER 6: 16Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

{WE THINK WE ARE SMARTER THAN GOD, WERE WRONG}

III.THE WE NEED TO BE ILLOGICAL- JOSHUA 6: 20So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

WALKING AROUND A WALL IS NOT LOGICAL TO GET IT TO FALL DOWN,

BUT IT WAS THE COMMAND OF GOD.

A. DON’T THINK ABOUT IT, JUST DO IT- MATT 22: 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment.

ILL. WHEN YOU PROPOSED TO YOUR SPOUSE, AND YOU SAID YES!

B. GOING FOR THE GUSTO- HEB. 11: 1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I COR. 9: 24Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

I TIM 6: 12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

SO, TODAY, DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AS A GRASSHOPPER, IF YOU DO, THE DEVIL WILL TOO. FOR IF, WE SEE OURSELVES AS THE CONQUERS, WE ARE, THOSE GIANTS WILL NOT STOP YOU, AND YOU SHALL FINISH YOUR COURSE!
