"The Meaning of the Resurrection"

EASTER SUNDAY-A DAY OF TRIUMPH

Text-Mark 16:2-8

Introduction-

We have come now to Christ’s day of glorious

triumph. "Up from the grave, He arose, with a

mighty triumph over His foes. He arose the Victor

of the dark domain, and He lives forever with His

saints to reign. He arose. He arose. Halalujah,

Christ arose!" Thus we proclaim when we sing the

great Gospel hymn. But, what does the resurrection

really mean to you, and to me? We need to take it

personally. Let me share with you some of the

things that the resurrection of Christ means to me.

I. First, IT MEANS THAT GOOD IS GREATER THAN EVIL.

It might appear sometimes that evil triumphs, and

I’m sure it appeared that way on the day of the

crucifiction, yet, a new day was dawning, a day

of glorious victory and triumph for the Lord Jesus

Christ.

It appeared that Satan had won in the Garden of

Eden, when he enticed mankind to rebel against God,

but God immediately promised a Redeemer, in Genesis

3:15.

It appeared that Satan had won in the days of Noah,

when the thoughts and intents of men’s hearts were

set on evil continually, yet, Noah found grace in

the eyes of the Lord, and the human race was

rescued.

It appeared that Satan had won when Jesus was led

to the cross, and crucified, but Easter Sunday

changed all that!

II. Secondly, IT MEANS THAT GRACE IS GREATER THAN

ALL OUR SIN.

As the Scripture declares, "Where sin abounded,

grace did much more abound."

Christ’s perfect sacrifice of Himself, and His

pure, holy blood, cleanses us from all sin, if we

believe in Him.

III. Thirdly, IT MEANS THAT LOVE IS STRONGER THAN

HATE.

The hatred of unbelievers for Christ is clearly re-

vealed at the cross, but God’s love is greater than

human hate.

Jesus prayed, "Father, forgive them, for they know

not what they do."

There is a length, breath, depth, and height to the

love of God that cannot be fathomed.

IV. Fourthly, IT MEANS THAT LIFE IS STRONGER THAN

DEATH.

The life I have referece to is the Zoe, eternal

life, found only in Christ. He is the Light of

the World, and He overcame the darkness.

Death is a formidable foe, but Jesus has taken

its sting away. Praise God. If a man die, he

can and will live again, if he knows Jesus, for

whoever believes in Him shall never die.

This is a brief outline. Hope you were blessed

by it.
