Summary: As Christians,we settle for far less than what we can have in Christ.

Matthew 4:18-22 NAS

18. Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee. He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fisherman.

19. And He said to them, “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.”

20. Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.

21. Going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father mending their nets; and He called them.

22. Immediately they left their boats and their father, and followed Him.

As Christians, we settle for far less than we can have in Christ.

We become content with just being ordinary Christians.

I have a question for you this morning.

Why are you settling for hamburgers, when steak is being prepared?

Jesus called ordinary people to be His disciples.

The first 4 disciples were fishermen by trade.

They were used to catching fish.

In Mark 1:17, Jesus said to them, “follow me and I will make you fishers of men.”

Simon and Andrew immediately left their nets and followed Him.

As He continued to go along the Sea of Galilee, He saw James and John on the boat mending nets.

Church, you can’t catch fish if your net has a hole in it.

They also followed Jesus; they left Zebedee, their father, and went.

They were willing to leave their comfort zone and follow Jesus.

As a church, do we have a comfort zone?

Are we content where we are in our walk?

Jesus wants to fix your nets.

He wants to prepare your rods.

Don’t be afraid of the water.

He’s telling you to cast your net.

You might say “Lord, I’ve caught no fish.”

He’s saying, “Trust me, I’m the truth, I’m the way, I’m the light.

You cast the net; my light will draw the fish.” (People)

John 21:1-11 NAS

1. After these things Jesus manifested Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and He manifested Himself in this way.

2. Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together.

3. Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will also come with you.” They went out and got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.

4. But when the day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.

5. So Jesus said to them, “Children, you do not have any fish, do you?” They answered Him, “No.”

6. And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat and you will find a catch.” So they cast, and then they were not able to haul it in because of the great number of fish.

7. Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord, he put his outer garment on (for he was stripped for work), and threw himself into the sea.

8. But the other disciples came in the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but about one hundred yards away, dragging the net full of fish.

9. So when they got out on the land, they saw a charcoal fire already laid and fish placed on it. and bread.

10. Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have now caught.”

11. Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not torn.

DREAM Jay Miller

I dreamed I was at Blue Rock fishing. There were people all around catching fish. I wasn’t doing so well. Finally, I got a few bites, but I still didn’t catch anything. Then all of a sudden Jesus appeared. He said to cast a net into the water. People started to laugh. But I kept thinking that if Jesus said to cast our net into the water, we were definitely going to have a big catch. I had done as He said, and sure enough, we couldn’t even pull the net in because it was so full.

He’s telling you today to cast your net.

It’s time we bring in the harvest.

The fields are ripe.

People will listen.

The 12 disciples learned to be fishers of men.

They learned by just trusting Jesus.

They learned to trust through listening to Jesus.

We need to learn to listen to Jesus.

We need to pray and read the Word of God. (The Bible)

Because the disciples trusted, they listened.

Do people trust you? What do they see in your life?

If they trust you, they will listen.

Seeds get planted because of trust.

If a seed is a good seed that gets planted, it will grow.

God will give the increase.

DREAM: Pastor Joe Rowland 12-12-2003

I dreamed I was an assistant at a great big church. The pastor was going to be leaving. I was going to be in charge. I was in the back doing something, the service started. I walked out, no one told me the pastor left. I was now in charge.

A man was up front getting ready to speak. He must have been the choir director. I walked up to him and asked, “Why didn’t you tell me the pastor had left?” I said I’m the one in charge now. I could tell he didn’t like it.

SCENE CHANGE

I’m now watching people make steaks on a grill. I knew I was still in the church building. At first I saw only two grills; I knew I was to help prepare the steak. I’m now walking, and I have a fishing pool. I remember seeing all kinds of people with fishing poles walking. The poles were like old bamboo poles. The steaks were for the fisherman. They were preparing for the fish caught. (People, souls won)

INTERPRETATION

I was an assistant pastor.

As an assistant I was to learn.

Once the pastor left, I was in charge.

God feels I’m ready to do the job.

The choir director didn’t like what was taking place.

Satan, in heaven, was the music director; He doesn’t like what’s taking place at our church.

There will be people who don’t like everything I do.

They will have to get over it.

God placed me where I’m at.

I never called myself to preach, God did.

God literally gave me the dream.

SCENE CHANGE

I’m now watching people make steaks on a grill.

I knew I was to help prepare them.

We need to teach people about Jesus.

Tell them what salvation is all about.

The steaks represent the rewards the fishers of men are going to receive.

We receive ours, and then we start to prepare for others.

We need to fish for souls.

Why settle for hamburgers, when steak is being prepared.

The disciples saw miracles being performed.

They saw healings.

They saw demons cast out; at first they saw Jesus do these things.

Now it was their turn!

JOHN 14:12 -15 NAS

12. Truly, Truly, I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also, and greater works than these he will do because I go to the father.

13. Whatever you ask in my name, that will I do, so the Father may be glorified in the son.

14. If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.

15. If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

God is preparing steaks for His people.

It’s time to eat the good meat.

It’s time to get off the milk.

If we’re eating good meat, that means we’re being obedient to God.

If we’re eating good meat, that means we’re doing what God wants us to do.

We’re becoming fishermen of men!

Good meat, good things take place.

If we fish, things in the spirit realm will take place.

Miracles, signs, and wonders will take place.

Jesus said ask any thing in my name, you’ll receive.

It’s time we ask, it’s time we believe.

.

He’s answered my prayers, He’ll answer yours.

When I was a child I asked God to give me a dream about Jesus in the air, I also asked as a child to see God’s Throne.

When I became an adult, He let me see both.

God’s not changed, we have.

We need a child- like faith.

The steak is prepared for some; it’s being prepared for others.

Peter walked on water, why not us?

I want steak!

John: 21:5-6 NAS

5. So Jesus said to them, “Children, you do not have any fish, do you?” They answered Him, “No.”

6. And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat and you will find a catch.” So they cast, and then they were not able to haul it in because of the great number of fish.

CLOSING

If you want steak, come and get it.

After you receive it, understand God’s going to give you a fishing pole.

To some, He’s going to give a net.

God will work the miraculous in your lives.

You have to use what He gives you.

He doesn’t want people to settle for 2nd rate walks with Him.

How do you want your steak cooked?
