WHAT TO EXPECT FROM GOD
Psalm 62:5-6
I. EXPECT SALVATION (Psalm 62:6).
A. Many people lack a salvation that saves to the uttermost. They profess to be Christians but continue in their old ways.
B. With the Psalmist, we should expect a salvation that forgives and cleanses us from our sins and keeps us pure and Holy.
C. The apostle Paul said,”Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
D. When a Christian makes a total surrender to God, the Holy Spirit purifies his heart, directs his life, and keeps that which he has committed to him (2 Timothy 1:12).
II. EXPECT SAFEKEEPING (Psalm 62:6).
A. The Psalmist was definite about God’s protective care. He said of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God; in him will I trust” (Psalm 91:2).
B. We must expect God’s safekeeping also. In today’s world, where there is trouble, turmoil, and terrorism, we need God’s protective care at all times.
C. God often directly intervenes for his children. Sometimes he sends his angels to watch over and guard his trusting one’s.
D. The Psalmist said, “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways” (Psalm 91:11).
III. EXPECT STABILITY (Psalm 62:6).
A. Some Christians are wishy-washy, up one day and down the next. You never know where to find them. They are unhappy and unfruitful.
B. God wants us to become established and productive. He offers stability through prayer, his Word, self-discipline, and faith.
C. Peter said, “But the God of all grace . . . after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you” (1 Peter 5:10).
D. Trust God. Expect salvation, safekeeping, and stability. “For my expectation is from him” (Psalm 62:5).
