Summary: A topical, salvation-oriented message that answers the question posed by the title. *HANDOUT INCLUDED*

E.V. Hill, the famous African-American preacher, was preaching on Jesus one Sunday morning. He preached that Jesus was the Son of God, and was only way to God, etc.

When he finished, he was shaking hands at the back door with members of the church when a young lady stormed up to him, and pointed her finger in his face. She said, “I don’t believe what you preached this morning. I want you to answer one question for me: What would I have if I had your Jesus?”

That night E.V. Hill got up and preached, “What You Would Have if You Had Jesus.”

I don’t know what he said that night. But I do know some things the Bible says you would have, and I want to share them with you this morning.

1. You would have peace with God.

Romans 5:1 “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,”

We have peace with Canada. That means we can go to bed at night and not worry about what’s going to happen between us and Canada! If you have peace with God, it means you are not at war any longer – you can lay down at night, and not wonder what would happen if you died and had to stand before God.

2. You would be able to go to heaven.

Colossians 1:27 “...Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

Our church recently did a 10,000 piece mailing. One response card I got back from the mailing said this: “There is no resurrection or future life. Mankind is doomed to death. Period.”

3. You would be saved from God’s anger and judgement.

Romans 5:9 “...having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.”

It’s not really popular to talk about the judgement and the anger of God. But it’s a real thing. People say, “I don’t to hear about the judgement of God.”

But there’s one good thing we can say about the anger and judgement of God: YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE UNDER IT!

You see, Jesus took the full weight of God’s anger and judgement on the Cross, when he died in your place. The only question that remains is whether or not you will accept his suffering for you and your sins!

4. You would have purpose in life.

Colossians 1:16 “Everything has been created through Him and for Him.”

One translation put it this way: “Everything got started in Him, and find’s it’s purpose in Him.” (The Message)

5. You would have help in difficult times.

Romans 8:35, 37 “Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or are hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death?. . .Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (New Living Translation. . .NKJV)

Let me talk to those of you for a moment who aren’t sure you have this Jesus. You’re not sure about your relationship with God.

I want to tell you one final story.

A pastor was preaching one Sunday morning. He noticed one lady just staring at him as he preached. She never took her eyes off him the whole sermon.

At the end of the sermon, the pastor invited anyone who wanted to pray to come forward, to kneel at the altar, and pray to receive Jesus as their Savior. The woman who was staring at him was one of the only ones who came.

As she knelt, the preacher came up to her and asked, “What can I help you pray about?” There was no answer. Someone tapped him on the shoulder, and said, “Pastor, she’s deaf, and can’t speak. She’s an expert lip reader, and that’s how she understood your sermon this morning.”

The pastor didn’t know how to handle that. But he just bowed his head, and let the lady pray.

After a couple minutes, she raised up, and motioned for something to write on. When they handed her something, she wrote four words:

“I have good Jesus.”

Before you leave today, I guarantee you that YOU can say just like she did, “I have good Jesus.” You can be sure that he’s in your life. Let me tell you how:

Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."
