Summary: Part 2 of being salty - more Biblical cause-and-effect passages of how others will find God.

Mark 9:50; Luke 14:34 – High in Salt Content – Part 2

A five-year-old lad was watching his mother change the baby. When she overlooked sprinkling the tot’s backside with talcum powder and hurried him into his diaper, the five-year-old reproved her sharply, "Hey, Mom, you forgot to salt him!"

Salt is a redeeming substance.

Take it with a grain of salt, meaning, just a hint of it is true (the salt).

4 main uses of salt in Jesus’ day:

1. Salt adds flavor and spice. If that says anything to me, it says that the Christian life should not be dull, and Christians should not be dull people.

2. Salt acts as a preservative.

3. Salt acts as a healing agent.

4. Salt was used by conquering armies to punish a defeated people. The soldiers would trample salt into the soil, thereby preventing crops from growing for many years. Jesus says that if the salt loses its flavor, and cannot be used positively, it will be used negatively to punish the world. In the process, the salt itself will be trampled under foot.
