Extreme Home Makeover
-Christian Edition-

Put together one very run down house, several opinionated designers, seven days and what do you get? The answer is TV’s new hit show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
One problem I have with this show! It is false advertisement. They are not doing a makeover on a home; they are doing a makeover on a house!
A cute little girl was sitting on top of a pile of luggage in a hotel. Her parents were at the desk registering for their room. A sympathetic lady asked the little girl if they were visiting relatives in the city. “Oh, no”, replied the girl. “We’re going to live at this hotel until we find a house. My daddy got a new job and we had to sell our old house and move.” The lady said, “Oh, it’s too bad you don’t have a home.” To which the girl replied, “We do have a home-it’s just we haven’t found a house to put it in yet.”
A lot of people in this building have a house to live in but you are still homeless. And I know people who are houseless but they have a home. It is time for an Extreme Home Makeover: Christian Edition.
Each episode begins with the host, Ty’s famous “Good Morning!” wake up call, when he along with the other designers, surprise the unsuspecting family with news that their home has been selected to receive a makeover. They must be ready to leave at a moments notice. No prior warning.
It kind of reminds me of the situation we are in in America! Our homes are very run down and dilapidated. They may look good on the outside, but on the inside they are disaster zones, dysfunctional Homes:
Divorce, Adultery, wife swapping, swingers, latch key kids, dual-working families, single parent families, grandparents raising grandkids born out of wedlock, FAS babies, homosexual/alternative lifestyle families
We need an EXREME MAKEOVER in America, in our homes!
Matter of fact, I believe there is someone at the door!
Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
I have noticed that not one time has a family on this show rejected the host, Ty from coming into their home. Why? Because they know they are getting something good. Something new! A brand new home! There old home is going to be transformed. The old one is going to be done away with. Sounds like a promise I have when I let Christ in. Old things pass away and behold ALL things become brand new! It is time we let Christ in our homes! He is bringing something good…it is a new home
1. First thing that happens is there is a plan or a designer…Blue prints
Psalm 127:1 MSG “If God doesn’t build the house, the builders only build shacks.”
2. Examine the house to see what kind of condition it in. It is in much worse shape than we think. Outside looks great but the inside is in bad shape.
Psalm 139:23 Search me O God and know my heart
Our homes are in such bad shape we can’t remold them they need leveled. All the way down to the Foundation
3. We need a string foundation! It is time to get he picks and shovels out and start digging deep.
I Corinthians 10-11 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.
For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Luke 6:49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great."
Maybe you have already received Christ and laid a good foundation but there are some cracks in it, because of your lack of hearing and obeying the word. There is some patch work that needs to be done. OBEDIENCE
4. Power- Electricity. We must be correctly hooked up to the power source. God is our power (Psalm 62:11).
There is only one way to get hooked up to the power source. There are codes and regulations.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
According to Acts 1:8 the Holy Spirit is the wiring by which the power flows. If you have an old house the wiring can be very dangerous!
5. Plumbing/Sewage you have to be able to plumb the sewage out of
your house. That is one of the problems with out lines. They back up on you. Every had a backed up sewage line in the house it STINKS! We have it backwards. We are piping sewage into our house. We are allowing the garbage in the house instead of piping it out. The line is backed up.
The sewage line is our heart. Let Jesus plunge it today
Matthew 15:19 for out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things that defile a man.
6. Let Christ clean the house. The entire house.

We allow Christ in the dining room/kitchen, but what about the bedroom and the living room. He says, “I want to open that door and this door. I even want to go up in the attic (the mind) and renew it. Let him every room and do an EXTREME MAKE OVER
6. HVAC
7. Landscaping- Got some things growing in the front yards. Some thorns and junk. Its time to let God uproot some things. If you let Him on the inside he will clean up the outside too.
