LEADERSHIP CRISIS!

Exodus 5:10-23

(Devotional Series 5)

Almost immediately Moses finds himself in a difficult position! He’s hardly been accepted by the people as their chief when he faces a major crisis. His whole leadership hangs in the balance.

I. THE PEOPLE BLAME MOSES!

That’s how it often is. It is hard for the rank and file to take setbacks; they quickly lose heart and then find someone to blame (20-21)

II. MOSES BLAME GOD!

A. He questioned God’s goodness (v.22)

B. He questioned God’s call (v.22)

C. He questioned God’s ability (v.23)

The leader must always be much tougher than the people he leads.

One of the chief marks of leadership is to keep calm and keep thinking when others are losing their heads, and to keep in touch with the Lord when others are turning away. Of course, Moses was right to go to the Lord, but not in a spirit of complaint.

THINK – “The leader must always be much tougher than the people.” How can he be?

Pray: for the qualities of leadership needed in the work to which God has called you.
