That which is Flesh. The Terri Schiavo delima. When is life over, when is it time to say enough, when is it time to give a life over to Gods will? The question many are refusing to address; ”Is the body of Terri Schiavo a “soul-animated” Body, otherwise is her body without the Spirit? The Bible tells us that Faith without works is dead being alone so then with what we understand of Scripture on Life and Death, does the same thing apply with the Body? The Flesh with out the Spirit is Dead, being alone ? Now I understand that all Christian, Theologians and Ministers do agree with this one fact in Life, there is three parts[entities], as with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit{Ghost}.The Body, Soul and Spirit. Which of these three can live independently of the others? The answer, The Soul and Spirit. The Body without the Spirit and Soul is just an“soul-animated” body. The heart, lungs, and nerves can operate, with or without outside influence but without the Spirit the Body is dead being alone. Lets read a little of the scripture concerning the dead. Ecc 3:18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
Ecc 3:19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
Ecc 3:20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
Ecc 3:21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth? Again here we see the influence of God stating ,”That which is Flesh is Flesh and that which is Spirit is Spirit”. Then you ask, what is the Spirit?
The Spirit is;
Hebrew ruach, Greek pneuma. Man in his normal integrity ("whole," holokleeron, complete in all its parts, 1Th_5:23) consists of "spirit, soul, and body." The spirit links man with higher intelligences, and is that highest part receptive of the quickening Holy Spirit (1Co_15:47). The soul (Hebrew nephesh, Greek psuchee) is intermediate between body and spirit; it is the sphere of the will and affections.
In the un-spiritual, the spirit is so sunk under the animal soul (which it ought to keep under) that such are "animal" ("seasonal," having merely the body of organized matter and the soul, the immaterial animating essence), "having not the spirit" (Jud_1:19; Jam_3:15; 1Co_2:14; 1Co_15:44-48; Joh_3:6). The unbeliever shall rise with an animal (soul-animated) body, but not, like the believer, with a spiritual (spirit-endued) body like Christ’s (Rom_8:11).
The soul is the seat of the appetites, the desires, the will; hunger, thirst, sorrow, joy; love, hope, fear, etc.; so that nephesh is the man himself, and is used for person, self, creature, any: a virtual contradiction of materialism, implying that the unseen soul rather than the seen body is the man. "Man was made" not a living body but "a living soul." "The blood, the life," links together body and soul (Lev_17:11).
The center of spiritual life; the soul. So what have we read?” The soul is the seat of the appetites, the desires, the will; hunger, thirst, sorrow, joy; love, hope, fear, etc.;all things that the flesh desires. So our question on Terri is, does she have these things or has, the appetites, the desires, the will; hunger, thirst, sorrow, joy; love, hope, fear, left her? Is her spirit still inhabiting the body or has the Lord removed the Spirit and left the Body to decay? I urge all to listen to these next 2 verses;
1Co 15:33-34, Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.”Some have not the knowledge of God:” There has been many speaking out for one side or another and not truly looked at the Bible for their answers, they are involved with compassion so deeply that their understanding of the will of God is clouded. Lets read these passages;
John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
1Co 15:35-45 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
Luke 8:49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
Luke 8:55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.
Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. Psa 31:5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.John 11:35 Jesus wept.
John 11:36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
John 11:37 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
John 11:38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
John 11:39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
John 11:40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
John 11:41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
John 11:42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
John 11:43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
John 11:44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
Rev 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
Rev 11:11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
2Co 12:1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
2Co 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
2Co 12:3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) So what is the answer that the Bible gives us on the state of Terris body? Without the Spirit the Body is dead, being alone. Have you noticed that none of the so called mirical workers from the television have not made an appearance at her bed side? Why ? They have not the power to call upon God for a mirical.1Ki 18:27 And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.
1Ki 18:28 And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.
1Ki 18:29 And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.
The prayers of many righteous men have been offered up to God on Terris behalf, but there comes a time that we all must let go and seek Gods Devine will in the life of a loved one. I myself, have lost a brother, child, many a family member and was also pronounced dead of a massive heart attack. So I know what the family is going thru. So in conclusion, If the Spirit is absent, lets allow God to remove the body, so the pain of loss, and the mourning can begin. ars
