Part 2: Understanding Significance

Psalm 8

Significance means: I have value, importance, and my life counts for something.

1. We are significant because...

...God created us Psalm 8:5

...God has dignified us Psalm 8:5

...God has trusted us with responsibility Psalm 8:6-8

2. Our significance has been expressed by God’s own Words

"For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.” Deuteronomy 14:2

"Also today the LORD has proclaimed you to be His special people, just as He promised you, that you should keep all His commandments” Deuteronomy 26:18

“For the LORD has chosen Jacob for Himself, Israel for His special treasure.” Psalm 135:4

When you see words like elect, chosen, and peculiar, you

should rejoice! It means God reached out to you FIRST!

3. Our significance has been authenticated by Christ

“Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.” Titus 2:14

How do I know I’m significant? God the Son gave His own life for mine!
