Summary: A great sermon for baby dedications

The Gospel According to "baby’s name"

2 Cor. 3:2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

1 Thessalonians 5:27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

Charge: to force to take an oath, which is a vow.

Eccl. 5:4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.

5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.

Three Charges this morning in the Gospel according to Mariah Danae Page

1. Charge to the Parents: the most important charge.

It is the parents that will have the most influence upon their children.

The Gospel according to Mariah Danae Page...

A. Charges that Dad and Mom first of all... BE SAVED

You cannot teach your child the ways of God if you don’t know them and follow them yourself

Jer. 2:33 Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love? therefore hast thou also taught the wicked ones thy ways.

If you’re not a Christian yourself, you cannot teach your child to be a Christian.

1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

We all understand there are church hypocrites...

BUT THE Gospel According to Mariah Danae charges

that Dad and Mom

NOT ONLY SAY THEY’RE SAVED...

But SHOW THEY ARE SAVED

YOU will never have true PEACE in your home unless

you have GOD in your HOME.

B) Secondly, the Gospel According to Mariah Danae Page

charges the Parents that they train their child in the ways of God

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Deut 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Don’t leave the teaching of God’s ways up to the Pastor or to the Sunday school teacher... Or to the child’s grandparents....

PARENTS... you have the responsibility to teach

your children the ways of God.

It is the home that was the first teaching institution

Is is the Home where the child needs to be taught and

corrected.

One day down the road, we may start a Christian school for the education of students...

BUT remember.... CHRISTIAN education begins in the

HOME.... the school is simply an extension of the home.

1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Provide: to take thought for, to care for, to have

Foresight.

Believe that this is not only dealing with the physical

aspect of provision, but also spiritual as well.

The Gospel according to Mariah Danae Page

charges that Dad and Mom show their child how to PRAY

Your child needs to hear you pray...

Needs to hear you get ahold of the throne of God.

Needs to hear you travail in prayer.

Needs to hear you call their name to the Lord in prayer

How many have we heard say,...”I remember hearing

my mother or father pray for me.”

“It was their prayers that caused me to turn to God.”

Old preacher friend... before he got saved... heard his wife praying for him one day. He had abused her, and she could take no more:

She prayed, “God save him or kill him.”

He ran out to the old barn hayloft, and called out to God

for salvation because he knew that God answered her

prayers, and he was afraid to die.

Oh that our children would have such confidence in our prayers!!!

The Gospel according to Mariah Danae Page charges that you teach your child how to read God’s word.

Don’t teach them that the newspaper is more imp. than

the Bible.

...or the t.v. guide... or Sports Illustrated...

You yourself need to know God’s word, so when your child asks you where a verse is,.... you don’t have to pull out the big concordance or call the pastor...

But YOU will know, because you have memorized God’s word!!!!

C) Thirdly, the Gospel according to Mariah Danae Page charges you parents that you be the same at home and at Walmart as you are at church.

We have way too many church hypocrites in the world..

Your child does not need to know one personally!!!

YOU cannot have peace with God, mankind, and your wife at church, if you first do not have it at home!!!

How can you even begin to teach your child the ways of God if you are not exhibiting Christian character in the home?

Dad and mom fussing and fuding at home simply tell the child that you are not where you need to be with God!!!

IF the home is anything at all... it needs to be a place of PEACE... a refuge... a place where there is strength.

THERE is enough chaos in the world... The gospel according to Mariah Danae Page charges that there not be any chaos in the home!!!

TEACH your child the ways of God.

Teach them that....

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

The very reason we have a generation of youth that have

no respect for the house of God, the pastor, or God

Himself, is because there are too many parents that

have no FEAR of GOD themselves.

They hear Dad and Mom chewing up the Pastor,

and the church... and therefore they grow up never

having respect for the man of God or the church-house

LISTEN if you want your children to respect God.

You must respect God.

....the pastor... .... the church....

IF you want your children to pray in the altars....you must

also pray in the altars.

The Gospel according to Mariah Danae Page charges, insists, begs, pleads that you teach your child the ways of God.

E) The Gospel according to Mariah Danae Page charges that you take your child to church.

Used to be that church was the center of our lives.

We planned everything else around church.

Never missed revivals... special meetings...

Always faithful to God’s house.

I’m afraid today that too many parents have put too little emphasis on CHURCH!

LISTEN: IF you don’t want to lose your children, take them to church, raise them in church, be in church every time the door is open....and you will be farther ahead in winning them to God when the time comes.

IF you want to teach them that Church is so very imp. to you .... BE THERE YOURSELF!!!!

I get so disturbed over parents who place more emphasis on their JOB than on CHURCH.

They certainly won’t MISS work, but where are they

on Sun. mornings??? Nights??? Wed. nights???

They put more emphasis on worldly things than they do the things of God.

Heb. 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

The Gospel accord..... Mariah Danae Page charges that you take your child to church!!!!

A little more about church:

Show your child how much you love church

how much you support it prayerfully and financially

how much you love your pastors

how much you love to work for the church....

Show them you love the Altars... PRAY with your children in the altars....(I don’t give a dime for a parent who doesn’t pray for their children in the altars)

Show them you love the preaching.... say AMEN and GLORY to GOD every now and then!

Show them how you love the PRAISE and the WORSHIP.

SHOW THEM YOU LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, SOUL AND BODY.

Thus, I’ve given the Charge to the Parents.

NOW….

The SECOND and THIRD CHARGE go hand in hand...

It is to the PASTOR and the CHURCH

The Gospel accord. To Mariah Danae Page Charges that the Pastor be the MAN of GOD for the whole church.

1 Peter 5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

The pastor must not only feed the adults, but the children as well.

The Gospel accord... Mariah Danae Page charges that I as a Pastor must PRAY and SEEK God for messages to feed the flock with a genuine anointing of the Holy Ghost.

I must also be an example by the way I look, act, speak,

and live.

Charges that I must show unconditional love!! And yet have a firmness to be able to correct when needed.

And the charge to the church...

2 Cor. 3:2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:

YOU CHURCH, are known and read of all men.

YOU CHURCH, are known and read of all children

YOU CHURCH, are to be a living epistle, a living testimony, a burning example of righteousness and holiness.

IF you desire to see a generation of youth that will become Holiness unto God... YOU must be that example unto them!!! You must teach them by your CONDUCT and

CHARACTER!

Don’t you dare CRITICIZE the youth...

for not praying in the altars and you’re not praying yourself...

...for not getting in during the service when you yourself

sit like a bump on a pickle

...for not being respectful in God’s house when you

yourself criticize and complain about this and that

and things you don’t like....

AND PLEASE... LISTEN to this instruction!!!

As a church...please don’t try to constantly be looking for faults and specks in children’s eyes when you have a beam sticking out of your own eye!!! Everybody has their own field… but you must keep your focus upon the treasure… not the field!!!

THE Gospel accord. to Mariah Danae Page

CHARGES you CHURCH that you be the CHURCH of the Living God, without Spot and without Wrinkle!!!

It charges you to be the BEST EXAMPLE that you can possibly be through the demonstration of the spirit and of Power!!!
