10 VITAL REVELATIONS CONCERNING THE WORD OF GOD FOR LIVING IN A TROUBLED WORLD

******************************************************************************************************

1.FOUNDATION

************

The word of God is the foundation in the life of a believer . Jesus said whoever hears His words and does according to it , is like a wise man who built his house upon the rock. That house could withstand all the storms and winds that came against it. The believer whose life is founded upon the word of God can withstand the storms of life. We should not build our lives on worldly counsel and ungodly principles . Our lives would be destroyed in times of attacks and trials. The safe and secure foundation is the word of God.The word of God gives stability to our lives. When we build our lives on the word of God we can face any storm and still remain strong and stable. The word of God is useful for teaching us the truth and the right doctrine that we must beleive in order that we are not deceived by false teachings and be led astray. We are prepared for service and fruitfulness by the word of God.

Matthew 7:24-25

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock."

2. FOOD

********

The word of God is food for our soul. We receive spiritual nourishment for our soul through the word of God. Therefore we must partake in this spiritual food regularly to live a strong spiritual life. If we neglect to receive daily spiritual nourishment from the word of God we would become weak spiritually and become a victim of the attacks of satan in our lives . We must take time to meditate and feed on the word of God. The Lord would give us revelation and insights which would be a great blessing to us. This is our spiritual nourishment which helps us to grow strong in our spiritual life.

May the Lord help us to grow strong in the word of God.We live by every word that comes from the mouth of God. It is the word of God that gives us the strength to face the realities and difficulties of life. Therefore we must pay careful attention to what the Lord is saying to us . Because we live by the word of God . Otherwise we would perish in the circumstances of life.

" Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."

1 Peter 2:2

" as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,"

I Timothy 4:6

If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters,[a] you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.

Deuteronomy 8:2-3

Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.

He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

3.FELICITY

**********

We must be filled with the word of God. Those who delight in the word of God and meditate day and night on His word would experience success in all their endeavours. The Lord told Joshua to fill his heart and mind with the word of God in order to make his way prosperous and have good success. We should not fill our hearts and minds with the filth and the evil of this world. Rather we must fill it with the truths of the word of God.

Psalms 1: 2-3

" But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season nd whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. "

Joshua 1 :7-8

" Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. "

4. FIGHT

********

We must use the word of God to fight the devil. The word of God is the sword of the Spirit . This is the weapon the Holy Spirit uses in our spiritual warfare. There is enormous power in the anointed word of God to destroy the works of the devil. We must use the word of God in times of battles with evil forces and proclaim the authority of the word of God over every demonic stronghold and break the yoke of the enemy in our lives. The word of God helps us to discern the real motives of people who may try to deceive us . It also reveals the true condition of our own hearts in order that we do not deceive ourselves .

".....Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

Hebrews 4:12

" For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. "

5. FAITH

***********

The word of God stimulates us and inspires our faith. Faith comes by hearing the word of God. The word of God brings clarity and understanding in times of perplexity and confusion. The word of God brings the message of peace. Therefore we must be careful to fill our hearts with the word of God which will fill us with faith and confidence. We should not be easily troubled by the various voices of fear and despair that may surround us. We must focus our attention on the word of the Lord. When Jairus heard the news that his daugther was dead , Jesus immediately spoke a word of faith to him and strenghtened him. Jesus also put away everybody except his close disciples when he raised the dead daughter to life. We must also surround ourselves with people of faith in times of distress to experience a miracle.

God is not a man that He should lie or change His mind. We can trust His promises with full assurance that He would fulfill what he has promised. The word of God is faithful and trustworthy . The promises of God are a source of strength in times of difficulty and affliction. The word of God will not return to Him in vain but will accomplish the purpose for which He sent it. The Lord promises to help us and removes our fears. We must trust in the faithfulness of God’s promises and and face every situation with faith and confidence.

The word of God gives us a surety and an assurance of fulfillment. Jesus said that even if the heavens and earth pass away , His words would never pass away. Abraham had such a strong and unshakable faith in the promises of God even in hopeless situations. The word of God spoken through His servants is confirmed by God. The Lord speaks to us through His servants and prophets and confirms and fulfills what He has spoken through them. The Lord was with Samuel and ensured that none of his words fell to the ground. Therefore we should expect the confirmation and fulfillment of what the Lord has spoken to us through His servants. The Apostle Paul told Timothy that the scriptures that he had learned from his childhood made him wise for salvation.

" So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. "

Mark 5:21-24 , 35-43

When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake.

Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet.

He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.”

So Jesus went with him.

While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”

Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James.

When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly.

He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.”

But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was.

He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”).

Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.

He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.

Isaiah 44 :24-26

“This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the Lord, the Maker of all things, who stretches out the heavens, who spreads out the earth by myself,

who foils the signs of false prophets and makes fools of diviners, who overthrows the learning of the wise and turns it into nonsense,

who carries out the words of his servants and fulfills the predictions of his messengers, who says of Jerusalem, ‘It shall be inhabited,’ of the towns of Judah, ‘They shall be rebuilt,’ and of their ruins, ‘I will restore them,’

II Chronicles 20:20

Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.”

I Samuel 3 :19

The Lord was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of Samuel’s words fall to the ground.

Hebrews 13 : 5-6

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

6. FOLLOWED

***************

The word of God must be followed and obeyed. We must not stop with hearing the word of God but must obey the word of God. We must be doers of the word and not hearers only. Every time we hear the word of God it is like looking in a mirror where we see an image of ourselves. We see our true condition. Therefore we must rectify whatever flaws are reflected in the mirror . We also have the assurance of our image in the mirror. We must remember who we are in Christ Jesus whenever we look into the mirror of the word of God.

The word of God is a source of guidance in our lives . It reveals to us the principles of God and values that we must live by . It gives a sense of direction to our lives . It helps us take decisions when we face the crossroads in our lives . It is a light to our lives when everything looks dark around us . We can hear the voice of God speaking to us through the word of God .

James 1:22 -25

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror

and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.

Psalms 119:105

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. "

7. FEEBLENESS

***************

The word of God gives us solace and comfort in times of sorrow and agony when we are weak and feeble. It gives us rest and peace within our hearts . It gives us hope and assurance of God’s presence and assistance. This is a great comfort and source of healing to our broken hearts. Therefore we must seek our comfort and consolation from the word of God in times of distress and pain . Many times the words of insensitive people can hurt us deeply when we are already in pain and sorrow . At such times we must come to the word of God and receive the words of comfort and consolation that He speaks to us.

8. FOREWARN

************

It saves us from serious dangers to our lives and eterrnal soul by warning us about the serious consequences of our wrong lifestyle . It is a wall of protection for our lives .

Psalms 19 : 11-13

" By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me.

Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression. "

" How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. "

Psalms 119:133

Ephesians 5:25-27

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her

to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,

and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

II Timothy 3 :16-17

" All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. "

9. FREEDOM

**********

The word of God delivers us and frees us from danger and destruction. The Lord sends His word in our times of crisis and desperation and heals us and delivers us from our destructions. The word of God will not return void but will accomplish the purpose for which He has sent it. Therefore let us receive the word of the Lord in times of danger and stand upon His word and we will be delivered from our destructions.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

Psalm 107 :20

" He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions"

Isaiah 55 :11

so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Matthew 8:5-13

When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.

“Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.”

Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?”

The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.

For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.

I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment.

10. FORBEARANCE

***********************

We must have forbearance and patience to enjoy the fulfillment of the word of God in our lives. The promises of God are fulfilled in our lives according to God’s timing . We must be patient until that time. We should not get discouraged easily and give up hope. Joseph waited for a long time before the promises of God was fulfilled in his life. Until that time the word of God was testing and refining his life. The Lord allows such a refining process in our lives before we experience the fulfillment of His promises . We must have the forbearance to endure such a refining and filtering process in our life.

Psalms 105:19

"Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the LORD tested him."

Hebrews 10:35-36

So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

Hebrews 6:12-15

We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself,

saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.”

And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.

Romans 4:17-21

As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead.

Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,

being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
