:5—“Through Him we have received grace & apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name,”

“Received”—???????—To take(with the hand)—lay hold of.

“Grace”—?????—Grace; Good will, lovingkindness, favor.

1Cor. 15:10—“But by the grace of God I am what I am, & His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”

Rom. 12:3—“For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.”

Rom. 15:15-16—“Nevertheless, brethren, I have written more boldly to you on some points, as reminding you, because of the grace given to me by God, that I might be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.”

“Apostleship”—????????—A sending away; A dismissal, release; A thing sent.

“For obedience”—To equip others in the faith.

“Obedience”—??????—Obedience, compliance, submission; Obedience rendered to anyone’s counsels, an obedience shown in observing the requirements of Christianity.

Eph 4:11-16—“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, & some pastors & teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith & of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to & fro & carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ-- from whom the whole body, joined & knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”

“The Faith”

Acts 2:36—“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord & Christ.””

Acts 4:12—“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.””

Eph. 4:4-6—“There is one body & one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God & Father of all, who is above all, & through all, & in you all.”

“Among all nations”—Same faith, globally

“Nations/Gentiles”—?????—A multitude; A multitude of individuals of the same nature; A tribe, nation, people group.—A term used of Gentiles.

Willful HEARING(:6)

—Explanation:(:6)

:6—“among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;”

“Among whom”—Among the Gentiles

“The called”—

“Called”—??????—Called, invited.

Isa. 43:1—“But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.”

Gal. 1:6-7—“I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you & want to pervert the gospel of Christ.”

“Of Jesus Christ”

Jn. 1:11-13—Jn. 1:11-13—“He came to His own, & His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Called out

2Thes. 2:113-14—“But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit & belief in the truth, to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

—Argumentation:

Jn. 10:1-5—““Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief & a robber. “But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. “To him the doorkeeper opens, & the sheep hear his voice; & he calls his own sheep by name & leads them out. “And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; & the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. “Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.””

Jn. 10:14-16—“I am the good shepherd; & I know My sheep, & am known by My own. “As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; & I lay down My life for the sheep. “And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, & they will hear My voice; & there will be one flock & one shepherd.”

Jn. 18:37—“Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.””

Willful PURITY(:7a)

—Explanation:(:7a)

:7—“To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you & peace from God our Father & the Lord Jesus Christ.”

“Beloved”—????????—Beloved, esteemed, dear, favorite, worthy of love.

“Saints”—?????—Most holy thing.; Pure; Freedom from impurities of the flesh. A separation from evil & defilement.

To be holy ones is to pure in separation from immorality, unrighteousness, sinfulness.

—Argumentation:

1Pet. 1:13:16—“Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, & rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.””

1Tim. 4:12-13—“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.”

1Cor. 1:2-3—“To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs & ours: Grace to you & peace from God our Father & the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Acts 15:7-9—“And when there had been much dispute, Peter rose up & said to them: “Men & brethren, you know that a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel & believe. “So God, who knows the heart, acknowledged them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us, “& made no distinction between us & them, purifying their hearts by faith.”

1Jn. 3:2-3—“Beloved, now we are children of God; & it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”

Willful SUFFICIENCY(:7b)

—Explanation:(:7b)

:7—“To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you & peace from God our Father & the Lord Jesus Christ.”

—Argumentation:

2Cor. 12:7-10—“And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Php 4:6-9—“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer & supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; & the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts & minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue & if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things. The things which you learned & received & heard & saw in me, these do, & the God of peace will be with you.”
