Hebrews 8
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. 8 Because finding fault with them, He says: “Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the LORD. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 11 None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
13 In that He says, “A new covenant, ” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
Discussing the NEW COVENANT
Covenant is a churchy word- but a covenant is contract
As a matter of fact- Your BIBLE is divided 2 sections- OLD TESTAMENT- NEW
We will learn the right and the authority we have as GOD”S KIDS
OUR FATHER – HAS MORE THAT WE COULD EVER NEED- we want trash
The old and new covenants are- THE LAW & GRACE
Testament and Covenant are kinda interchangeable
So we could really divide the Bible into “THE OLD COV.” And THE NEW COV
The word covenant means- TO MAKE an Unbreakable deal
THE ONLY WAY A COV CAN BE OVER- THROUGH DEATH
Lets look at the word “Testament”- The reason NEW test. Is so important to us
ITS NEW- If I said- you can have this old car or this NEW CAR- Which?
You’d pick the new- Not that there’s not good in the old car-
But you would take the car that had been IMPROVED & UPDATED
This scripture attests to that fact- VS 6--BETTER COV.- BETTER PROMISES
So do we want the old cov- or the BETTER COV- BETTER PROMISES
Many on TV will tell you- JEWS ARE STILL GODS CHOSEN JUST OBEY THE TORAH= you still go to Heaven
Not true- Jesus is THE WAY not A WAY
For every COV cut their must be blood shed- adam- Noah- Abraham- CIRCUM…
Know this- Jesus death accomplished 2 things- His death ended the COV w/ Israel
That first COV is obsolete- WHY? – The only way to break a COV is death
And the blood he shed was the blood spilled for the new covenant
His resurrection began the BETTER COV
THE NEW COV or TESTAMENT is our covenant-
DID he forsake ISRAEL- NO- It’s a level playing field----they can be saved THE SAME WAY U&I R
So how does this COV- become ours- BELIEVING THAT JESUS DIED FOR You
WHAT DOES THAT MAKE YOU- A CHILD OF GOD
Not a servant or a slave---A CHILD
John 1: 12But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
Romans 8: 16The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God
1 John 3: 1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!
So as Children of God- How do we know what we’re entitled to-
Well when someone dies- They leave a LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
Wouldn’t you know it- God left of us the last or latest or NEW Testament
And everything in it we are entitled to- He’s told us in the will
If we’re gonna live the life our father wants us to live-- GOTTA READ THE WILL
If we’re gonna have the things our father want us to have- READ THE WILL
If we’re gonna get what’s rightfully ours- GOTTA READ THE WILL
If we’re gonna have the freedom, power & authority- Gotta read the will
If we don’t know- what our father has left us we’ll feel
UNWORTHY- USELESS- DYSFUNCTIONAL- INSECURE- UNFORGIVEN
But if we’ll read the will of BETTER PROMISES-
we can have a future- Like dad wanted
The first things Christians don’t realize that’s in the will is: FORGIVENESS
1. You are FORGIVEN-
We have been taught that when we SIN- have to ask for forgiveness
That’s makes Christianity no more that Catholicism or Buddahism
Mainstream church teaches this- They use 1 JOHN 1:9 –
RIGHTEOUSNESS comes at salvation
Because when you’re saved- Jesus takes your sin & gives you his righteousness
2 Corinthians 5:20-21- it’s and exchange
Confess your sins and the fact that you’re a sinner- when you’re ready to be saved
When you confession you’re a sinner- Jesus takes the sins- gives you righteousness
You don’t have to go back day after day after day- No different- OLD TEST- SAC
You should REPENT- “RECOGNIZE”-
But you don’t have to ask God to forgive you- He forgave you the moment you were saved
At salvation he forgave your sins and cleansed you from ALL unrighteousness
2. You are righteous- 1 Corinthians 1:29-31
The church has a hang-up with believing all
this good stuff about ourselves
Here’s the catch- I call you holy-righteous-beautiful-spotless-
But none of it’s because of you- It’s because God left it in the will
HIS son died so these attributes, that were in his son- Could BE OUR attributes
When you are born again- the bible says you are IN CHRIST-
IF you’re IN CHRIST- can you be unrighteous, imperfect, no good- dysfunctional, accident waiting to happen, never amount to a hill of beans
You are FORGIVEN and YOU ARE RIGHTEOUS
Why? DADDY LEFT IT TO YOU IN THE WILL
IT”S ALL IN THE WILL
