Praise the LORD brothers and sisters in the mighty name of Jesus,

May God richly bless you as you read these words. It is my sincere desire that all who read them may be enriched. In my research for this sermon, I use statements from Pastor Jame May Sermon MY MIND’S MADE UP!

My Mind MADE UP!

James 1:8-9

By Clarence E. Weaver, Sr.

We are living in a world where there is no sure foundation outside of Christ. Surely the Word of God tells us that every thing that can be shaken will be shaken in these last days. The "every thing" that will be shaken includes our faith, if it is weak.Contributor by (Pastor James May)

I discovered a long time ago that a sure foundation in Christ is obtained only when we have a made up mind. Anyone who is committed, sold out, and centered upon the work of the Lord is sure to have a stronger foundation than those who can’t decide what they really want to do about Jesus. James 1:8, "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways."

Have you seen a lot of unstable people lately? Have you seen those who keep running like a hamster in a cage but they never really seem to go anywhere or finish anything? Are you one of those yourself?

Perhaps we have so many circumstances arise that draw us off the right track because we are carrying an unstable mind. Shall I go or stay, turn or go straight, listen or talk, stop or go? So many decisions and so little power to decide! No wonder we are a nation of schizophrenics! We have to have split personalities, one side of us to go in one direction while the other half goes the other direction. There is too much to do, too many places to go, so many plans to make.Contributor by (Pastor James May)

Do you have a mind of this world as a citizen or do you have a blood stain passport identifying you as a citizen of heaven?

1 John 2:15-17 2 (15)Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Preoccupation’s that are wrong, pride, pleasures, possessions, popularity, power obsession, position oriented, people pleasing, and privilege for selfish reasons. These are some of the way that will cause us to become unstable.

Revelation 3:15-16 (15)I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. (16)So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

That man or woman who is double-minded will face the decisions to:

Study or watch TV

Go shopping or go to church

Pray or sleep

Read the Bible or read a magazine

Go to special services or lay at homeContributor by (Pastor James May)

What does the Bible say about our mind?

Here are just a few:

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus

Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy meditate on these things.

Colossians 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Romans 12:1-2 (1)I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Proverb 3:5-7 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.

I think its time to make up our mind just what we want to do about Jesus. Will we be completely sold out to Him or are we going to continue to be wishy-washy like good old Charlie Brown in the Peanuts Comics? Contributor by (Pastor James May)

Only when you have a made up mind can you become stable and accountable in all your ways. Only after you have proven faithful and dependable in your calling will God allow your ministry to increase.

I want you to know that you will never be able to do great exploits for the Lord until you get rid of that double minded attitude and make up your mind, once and for all, that Jesus is your Lord and that your purpose in this life is to serve Him in any way you can.

When your mind is made up, there will never be a question whether we will be in church or not. There will never be a time when we will let our ministry, or our calling suffer from inattention. There will never be a time when someone else will have to fill in for us because we aren’t on our post.

This is the Lord’s Army! When the roll is called up yonder in this army, you can’t afford to be AWOL! The penalty is eternal separation and a dishonorable discharge.Contributor by (Pastor James May)

Double-minded people are the type of people that you can never really count on for anything. They talk big but do very little that is lasting.

I don’t know about you, but my mind is made up. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. After all, He is the only, living and true God. No other god will answer. No other god will hear. No other god is alive.

Ask God to help you stay focus so that you may have a mind like Christ.

Psalms 139:23-24

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.

Jesus Christ is alive and that’s why my mind is made up to follow Him! Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:1 "Be ye followers me even as I also am of Christ.
