Summary: You can trust God! This sermon was developed in a new format, using the me-you-God-you-we format. I hope it will help others as it has myself

You can trust God!

ME: When a baby is born it relies totally on the trust of others. There is a major trust factor there. I remember a time when playing football that I went out for a pass and I had to trust that the Quarterback would get the ball to me and he had to trust that I would catch it when it got there. Also in the military a new recruit had to trust his drill Sargent to train him for times of combat.

YOU: The truth is that sometimes for whatever reason people, whom we trust, fail us. In your life has there been someone that you trusted that failed you? Has there been a time when you let someone down that trusted you? If not there will be a time when someone, no matter the reason will let you down. Will people let you down? The answer is YES. People are human and have their faults. Now most will not want to let you down but things happen, life happens. There is someone though who will never let you down and you can put your complete trust in. Let’s look at who this person is. This morning we will look at Psalm 56:11, Hebrews 13:5, and Matthew 28:20.

GOD: Psalm 56:11

Hebrews 13:5

Matthew 28:20

We have this promise from Jesus Christ

God did not let down the Old Testament Saints and He will not let you or me down

You can trust God!

YOU: This morning can you make that statement from Psalm 56:11? “In God I have put my trust, I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?” The bottom line here is that you can trust God for all things. You can trust Him with the big things as well as the small things in your life. Above anyone else God can be trusted. Is there something in your life that you have not completely trusted God with? No matter how small it is or seems you can put your trust in Him.

WE: We all need to turn our trust over to God. He alone can sustain us. We often say that God can do anything, yet we do not let Him have complete control of our lives. We always hold on to something. It is like we are saying that God can’t handle this. “Ok, God I will trust you with everything except this.” This morning we as a church and as individuals need to come to the altar. The Hymn says, “Trust and obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.” The thing we are holding on to might be big thing or maybe even be small. Maybe you are dealing with fear, unforgiveness, anger, resentment, or some type of addiction. Well, my friend you do not have to let it control you. Come now and trust God
