I’m assuming that if you are reading this message it means that
God has been dealing with you and you are wondering what it takes
for you to be saved and filled with the Holy Ghost. If not the last
part, at least the first. If you are wondering how to be saved take
a few minutes and read this message.
First off, PRAISE GOD. I feel like if you’re reading this that
there are going to be some new names wrote in the Lamb’s Book of
Life. All the angels in heaven are going to get to rejoice. I have
Scripture from the Bible to back up everything I will tell you. I’m
not going to preach this from a denominational point of view but it
will interfere with some doctrines. I’m going to tell you what my
Bible says you have to do to be saved and that’s the sum of it. If
you wanna know how to receive the Holy Ghost that will be the latter
half of this message.
First off you may ask, "Why do I need to get saved?" or "Does
it matter if I am saved to go to heaven?" The answer to the second
question is YES! Jesus told in the book of John chapter 14 and
verse 6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to
the Father except through Me." The Father is in heaven and the only
way to get to heaven is to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord
and Savior. I will take my Scripture to help you out of Paul’s
letter to the Romans.
1. Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God." The first thing you need to do is admit your sin,
tell God that you know you are a sinner and without Him you are
lost. The whole world has sinned; there was only one pefect "human
being" ever and that was the Lord Jesus Christ. He was the only One
who never sinned.
2. Realize that Jesus died for your sins. He paid the price
so that you could get in to heaven and receive a reward. He took
the punishment that belonged to you and He put it on the cross with
Him. He didn’t have to die for you. He could have called down
every angel in heaven to help Him. He willingly died for everything
you did wrong. In essence, you put Jesus on the cross. Put John
3:16 into perspective. "For God so loved the world (this includes
you) that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in
Him should perish but have everlasting life."
3. Romans 10:8-9 "But what does it say? ’The word is near
you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,’ that is, the word of
faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your
mouth, ’Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised
him from the dead, you will be saved." I couldn’t put it any
clearer than that. CONFESS IT AND BELIEVE IT.
4. BE DONE WITH SIN! 1 John 3:6-9 "No one who lives in Him
keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen Him
or known Him. Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He
who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. He
who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been
sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was
to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will
continue to sin; because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on
sinning, because he has been born of God."
In conclusion, if you are saved do not neglect number 4! This
is how we know who is a child of God.
