Summary: We see many terrible things going on in this world, but the Lord has prepared you and HE KNOWS HOW TO DELIVER US! TRUST HIM!

THE LORD KNOWS HOW TO DELIVER...

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

This is a two part lesson. I do parts 1-9 in the AM and 10- 13 in the PM service.

I place a chair in front of the crowd, I walk around the chair, I ponder aloud, will this chair hold me? Will this chair break and drop me to the floor?

Will I fall in front of this crowd and be terribly embarrassed?

I. WHAT DO I KNOW?

DO I TRUST THAT OUR GOD KNOWS HOW TO DELIVER?

Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

Romans 4:21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

A. I hear people say that Americans do not trust any more. This is very wrong.

B. When you reach on that shelf for a pill for your headache you are exercising a great element of trust.

C. When we get in an elevator and push the button to go to the twentieth floor, we trust the machine, else we would not walk into that little room.

D. When we sit down in the car and turn the key we trust the battery and the starter, else we would not even place the key in the ignition.

E. While traveling down the road at 70 miles an hour in traffic all around us, we are trusting the Goodyear tires not only on our car but those around us,

or we would not get into the heavy traffic.

F. You go to the bank and deposit your money, trusting that check will not bounce, or you would not make the deposit.

G. It seems to me that we want to TRUST EVERYTHING BUT GOD.

II. I AM FREE BUT I DID NOT KNOW IT?

A. As Frederick Douglass said in 1845:

Every tone, every song, every groan was a testimony against slavery, a prayer to God for DELIVERANCE FROM CHAINS.

B. Abraham Lincoln signed THE EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION. President Lincoln proclaimed all men to be free and released from bondage and slavery.

C. 5 years later a black man was living in the back woods and would hide from people, he was still running as a slave. He did not believe his prayers had been heard?

D. He did not know that the President of the United States of America had declared freedom for all.

E. This poor man was free but he was acting like and living like a slave. He was delivered and had not known of his freedom.

III. DO I BELIEVE? DO I DOUBT?

A. I often say there are several credible points we must accept to hear God’s promises.

1. Are God’s promises real?

2. Are God’s promises really for me?

3. When are God’s promises going to be released in me?

B. I often say:

1. IF NOT YOU? THEN WHO?

2. IF NOT NOW? THEN WHEN?

3. IF NOT HERE? THEN WHERE?

Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou

removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

IV. DO WE KNOW HOW? OR WILL WE TRUST THE GOD THAT DOES KNOW!

A. What I do not know shall TEACH ME TO TRUST the God that does know.

Matthew 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

B. TWO GROUPS OF PEOPLE ARE VERY DANGEROUS:

1. THE KNOW IT ALL

2. THE KNOW NOTHING, THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND.

C. TO KNOW:

***To Perceive ***To understand ***To be aware

***FIXED MIND ***To be able to distinguish

D. Is it easier to know victory than to know how to use victory to your advantage?

E. Some know ignorance, some know half the truth, either one could be dangerous.

F. A smart man knows his end!

TEXT:

I Peter 1:21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

G. DELIVERANCE:

***Liberation ***Rescue ***To set free

***To bring support ***To disburdened thoughts

***To assist in giving birth ***To speak, sing, or utter ***To send something to a target or intended destination ***To produce the promised, desired or expected ***To come through

V. OUR GOD WILL PULL YOU THROUGH IF YOU CAN STAND THE PULL?

OUR GOD KNOWS HOW TO DELIVER YOU!

DO WE HAVE ENOUGH FAITH TO BE STILL AND TRUST GOD?

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

A. We see many carrying great anger and disappointments and this couples with the misery of feeling trapped in little to no hope of deliverance.

B. We must trust a God that knows when we do not know!

VI. HOW DO I GET FAITH?

A. When I was a little boy my Dad was preaching. Dad asked the crowd, How do we get faith?

B. Some one yelled by good works? Another yelled by giving offerings? Then Dad told them the Bible answer.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

VII. WE HAVE FAITH BUT DO WE USE IT FOR DELIVERANCE?

HOW MUCH FAITH DO I HAVE?

I HAVE A DIVINE MEASURE, AND WHAT EVER MY MEASURE,

IT WILL BE ENOUGH FOR WHATEVER I SHALL FACE!

Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

A. GOD REQUIRES OUR ENEMY TO HAVE A DESIGNED DELIVERANCE, ELSE HE IS NOT ALLOWED TO PRACTICE HIS MEANNESS.

THERE IS A WAY OF DELIVERANCE!

1 Cor. 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

B. DO WE NOT UNDERSTAND DIVINE LAWS?

WE DESIRE TO HAVE THIS, WE WILL LIVE ON CREDIT?

AND DEMAND THAT GOD MAKE THE PAYMENTS?

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

C. WE WANT HEALING ?

BUT WE DO NOT WANT TO HAVE

1. A HEALTHY DIET

2. GOOD EXERCISE

3. AND GOOD REST

VIII. OUR GOD KNOWS HOW TO DELIVER!!

A. KING HEROD PERSECUTED THE SAINTS.

B. HE HAD JAMES KILLED.

C. PETER WAS LOCKED UP IN PRISON, THE KING SAW THIS WAS A POPULAR

MOVE WITH THE BIG CROWDS.

D. THE KING HAD EVERY INTENTION OF KILLING PETER.

E. REMARKABLE PRAYER BRINGS REMARKABLE RESULTS.

Acts 12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

F. GOD KNEW HOW TO DELIVER PETER, ANGELS FREED HIM.

Acts 12:7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying,

Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

IX. GOD KNOWS HOW TO DELIVER!

A. PAUL WAS IN PRISON, THERE WAS LITTLE HOPE, BUT THERE IS DIVINE DELIVERANCE.

Acts 16:24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. 25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

B. THERE IS A POINT THAT PRAYER AND PRAISE WILL BRING DELIVERANCE!

Acts 16:26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s

bands were loosed.

C. GOD KNEW HOW TO DELIVER PAUL IN A GREAT EARTHQUAKE!

X. GOD KNOWS HOW TO DELIVER!

A. DID GOD KNOW HOW TO DELIVER JOHN THE BAPTIST?

Matthew 14:8 And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist’s head in a charger.

B. GROWING UP I HAD SERIOUS PROBLEMS ABOUT DELIVERANCE,

PETER WAS RELEASED BY ANGELS, PAUL WAS DELIVERED BY AN

EARTHQUAKE!

C. BUT POOR OLD JOHN THE BAPTIST WAS RELEASED HEAD FIRST? THEN HIS BODY TO HIS FRIENDS.

C. I SEARCHED FOR AN ANSWER? I ASKED PREACHERS,

AND ONE DAY JOHN HIMSELF ANSWERED MY QUESTIONS!

John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

D. JOHN WAS THE ONLY ONE TRULY DELIVERED.

E. JOHN KNEW GOD’S PLAN AND PURPOSE, AND GOD SAID THAT IS ENOUGH JOHN...

F. JESUS CALLED PAUL: COME ON UP --- YOUR ROBE IS AWAITING! GOD KNOWS HOW TO DELIVER!

XI. ARE WE FULLY PERSUADED THAT OUR GOD KNOWS HOW TO DELIVER?

Romans 4:21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

2 Tim. 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to

keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Ephes. 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

XII. MOCK US, WHO IS YOUR GOD THAT SHALL DELIVER OUT OF MY HANDS?

A. THIS WE KNOW: OUR GOD WILL DELIVER US.

B. WE ARE NOT MOVING IN PRESUMPTION, BUT WE KNOW

GOD WILL DELIVER US!

Daniel 3:15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace;

and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?

B. KING WE KNOW AND ARE PERSUADED OUR GOD IS ABLE!

Daniel 3:16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

XIII. THE ENEMY SAYS GOD CAN NOT DELIVER YOU AND MOCKS THEM WE WILL GIVE YOU 2000 HORSES AND WHIP YOU!

A. YOU CAN NOT DO IT! THERE IS NO WAY FOR DELIVERANCE!

THE STRONG NATIONS WERE NOT DELIVERED FROM OUR HANDS!

B. SENNACHRIB WILL TRY TO ENLARGE YOUR DOUBTS AND TELL

YOU --- YOU CAN NOT DO IT! OTHERS WERE NOT ABLE!

Isaiah 36:8 Now therefore give pledges, I pray thee, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

C. DO YOU EVER FEEL DEFEATED BEFORE THE BATTLE? DO NOT BELIEVE THAT PREACHER!

Isaiah 36:14 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.15 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the Lord, saying, The Lord will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria. 16 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me: and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;

D. GOD THEY SAY WE CAN NOT BE DELIVERED?

WHAT DO YOU THINK GOD?

Isaiah 37:14 And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the Lord, and spread it before

the Lord. 15 And Hezekiah prayed unto the Lord, saying,

E. WHO ARE YOU GOING TO BELIEVE?

DO YOU WANT 2000 HORSES, OR WILL YOU TRUST GOD?

Isaiah 37:33 Therefore thus saith the Lord concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there nor come before it with

shields, nor cast a bank against it. 34 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the Lord.

F. WHAT SEEMED LIKE A BIG PROBLEM WAS JUST AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE LORD TO SHOW HE KNOWS HOW TO DELIVER!

Isaiah 37:37 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh. 38 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house

of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Armenia: and Esar-haddon his son reigned in his stead.

G. GOD KNOWS HOW TO DELIVER.

XIV. YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN TO BRING DELIVERANCE!

Esther 4:14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

Romans 4:21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

2 Tim. 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to

keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Ephes. 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

XV. LIFE EXPERIENCES HAVE PREPARED ME FOR THIS GIANT!

1 Samuel 17:37 David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.

1 Samuel 17:45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. 46 This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the

host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth;

that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

A. ALLOW GOD TO USE YOUR HANDS TO BRING DELIVERANCE.

B. IT IS NOT THE SIZE OF YOUR HANDS, BUT THE SIZE OF YOUR FAITH TO

RELEASE GOD’S PLAN.
