THE FOCUS OF CHRISTIAN LIBERATION

1 cor.6:9-12 1 cor.10:23

Introduction.

The major theme of the gospel is our Liberation from the power of sin, Through faith in christ we are delivered from bondage and with the aid of the Holy Spirit, we are coming to an ever-greater awareness of the glorious liberty of the childern of God. Amen

Today I want to preach to you a message on our liberty.

Take your bibles and turn to 2 openings. 1 cor.6:9-12 and 1 cor. 10:23.

1 cor.6:9-12 Lets read Together.

9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

1 Cor. 10:23

23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

I want to say before I get into the message,

THANK GOD I AM FREE, FREE, FREE, I want to know if there is anyone here today that Is free?

I want you to know that I am free to

worship God, Free to lift my hands to the Lord, Free to shout, free to run a spell, Free to serve him and other’s Just thank God I am Free, at last. Amen

Well, Lets take a little time this morning and veiw why that is.

# 1 LETS LOOK AT THE "PROCESS" OF LIBERATION

A..We have been "Selected" by the Father.

Eph.1:4

According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

B..We have been"saved" by the son.

Eph 1:7

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.

Thank God for his son That by by Though christ and his Blood we have been saved and washed clean.

C...We have been "Sealed" by the spirit

Eph !:13

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.

Now I want you to know this morning that you are free in Christ,

You have been Selected by the father.

Story.

I want to share with you this morning just a small part of my life, for so many Years I was like a Wild man in the world going and doing just what I pleased and not giving one thought to God or his People, But I want you to know that when God came looking for me and was deep in a pit Lost with out God and headed for Hell, And like David said he picked me up out of the mirey pit and planted my feet on solid ground. and that why I can be so excited about knowing that I am Free and free at last. Because when he came looking for me I know now that I was "Selected" and saved by his Grace, and then was sealed by his spirit.

And Yes my Brother and if you too are have been Born again, then stand and shout unto the Lord and give him thanks. Amen.

Well, Lets get back to the message.

#2 LETS LOOK AT THE POWER OF LIBERATION.

A..We are washed. verse 11 in our text.

1 cor 6:11

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

You see there are many of you setting here today like myself, you were guilty of some of these things that are listed in our text.

But now you have been washed in his Blood. and that makes you Free, And whom the lord sets free, He is free indeed. Amen.

B..We Are also "Sanctified" Set a Part.

1 cor. 6:11 again

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

There is power in just knowing that we are his and he is ours and what a blessing it is to know that he has set us apart. Amen

C.. We are also "Justified"

Look at verse 11 again. But ya are "Justified" and that means just as we never done it. Praise God for his mercy and his forgiveness Amen

#3....LETS LOOK AT THE "POTENTIAL" OF LIBERATION.

Christian Liberty sets its own limits as an expression of love for christ.

It can be veiw as a Test would be one way of putting it.

A..Is it "Necessary" 1 cor 6:12

12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

You see I am free to do as I please, which brings us to a question, I am free, and all that i do, Do I know why I do them. But most of all, Is it necessary that I do it.

Example.

I am free to come to church when ever the doors are open, and if I chose not too, I must ask myself is it necessary that what ever I am doing to stay out, Is it more important that the worship of our king?

I am Free to be a witness to others, And when I dont I need to ask myself, Was it necessary what i was doing that kept me from it. A good place to Test ourself. Amen

B... And will it Bind me verse 12.

Meaning this will what ever i have to do will it controll me? I am free says Paul, And its your choice to obey or not. But the test is. will what I am doing with my Liberty will it bind and controll me and keep me in bondage. Amen

C.. And does it "Edify" me?

1 Cor:10:23

23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

When out with your friends and a matter comes up with someone else, and you find your self ingaged in a converstion that’s not good, and invold with bad talk maybe about what this person might have done to you.

The question is the Test. Does it edify them?

How does it make you feel when its over? not so good many times.

So it is a Test where we can test ourself’s in our liberty. yes I am Free, Free, and free, at last I am free. But does my freedom edify my brother? or Does it bring them down? It is a Test that we can go by.

THANK GOD WE ARE FREE. TODAY I HAVE SHARED MY HEART WITH YOU, I WANT TO LEAVE YOU WITH THIS MESSAGE. CHRIST SET US FREE AT THE CROSS AND FREE WE ARE. MAY THIS MESSAGE FIND A LODGEING PLACE IN OUR HEARTS AMEN.
