THE MESSAGE
A TRIBUTE TO GODLY MOTHERS

1. A MOTHER CONCEIVES
A mother conceives and gives birth to her child . Our mother has carried us in her womb and has given birth to us enduring great pain and agony. She has given life to us . Therefore we ought to love and honour our mother all the days of our life.
JOHN 16:21
" A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. "
EPHESIANS 6:1-3
" Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise:
that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth. "
2. A MOTHER COOKS
A mother cooks and feeds her children. Our mother has fed us from the time we were born . She has laboured much to prepare nutritious food for us and is resposible for our physical growth. We owe our physical health and strength to our mother’s cooking.
I KINGS 17:12
" So she said, As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
3. A MOTHER CLOTHES
A mother clothes her children. Our mother has clothed us from our infancy . She has taken much pains to make us look good . She has enjoyed clothing us in our best and helped us choose our apparel.
I SAMUEL 2:18-19
" But Samuel ministered before the Lord, even as a child, wearing a linen ephod.
Moreover his mother used to make him a little robe, and bring it to him year by year when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice. "
4. A MOTHER COACHES
A mother coaches her children. Our mother has trained us from our infancy. Everything we have learned in our infancy has been taught by our mother including teaching us to take our first steps and to speak our first words. Our mother has also taught us morals and values in life .
DEUTERONOMY 32:11
" As an eagle stirs up its nest, Hovers over its young, Spreading out its wings, taking them up, Carrying them on its wings, "
PROVEBS 6:20
" My son, keep your father’s command, And do not forsake the law of your mother. "
5. A MOTHER COVERS
A mother covers and protects her children.Our mother has been watching over us and protecting us from danger from our birth . Our mother warns us of coming danger and keeps us under her protection . She also unites the family and keeps the family together.
MATTHEW 23:37
" O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! "
6. A MOTHER CONSECRATES
A mother consecrates her children to the Lord. Our mother dedicated us the Lord . She made a covenant with the Lord concerning our life and as a result we enjoy many blessings from the Lord in our life. A mother’s prayer is very powerful and is a great blessing in our life.
I SAMUEL 1: 9-11
" So Hannah arose after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the tabernacle of the Lord.
And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish.
Then she made a vow and said, O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head. "
7. A MOTHER CONVERTS
A mother converts her children. Our mother has taught us the truths of God and has led us to the Lord. She has instilled faith in our hearts which will keep us all through our life.
II TIMOTHY 1:5
" when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. "
8. A MOTHER CONSIDERS
A mother considers the revelations concerning her children. Our mother carefully considers and preserves in her heart every revelation and promise that the Lord has given concerning us . She does not forget them and waits with prayerful expectation to see their fulfillment.
LUKE 2: 18-19 , 48-51
" And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. "
" So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.
And He said to them, Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?
But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.
Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart. "
9. A MOTHER CARES
A mother cares for her children. Our mother is the person who is most concerned about us . She cannot bear to see our suffering . Our mother is our most genuine well wisher and she would do all she can to care for us.
ISAIAH 49:15
" Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb?
Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. "
GENESIS 21:15-18
" And the water in the skin was used up, and she placed the boy under one of the shrubs.
Then she went and sat down across from him at a distance of about a bowshot; for she said to herself, Let me not see the death of the boy. So she sat opposite him, and lifted her voice and wept.
And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is.
Arise, lift up the lad and hold him with your hand, for I will make him a great nation. "
10. A MOTHER COMFORTS
A mother comforts her children. Our mother comforts and consoles us in our time of sorrow and pain . When our hearts are broken with disappointment and failure , she wipes away our tears and comforts us with her love and encouragement .
ISAIAH 66: 13
" As one whom his mother comforts, So I will comfort you; And you shall be comforted in Jerusalem. "
