HOW TO BE AN OVERCOMER

Psalms 41:4

I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

We must overcome negative feelings and needless fear to be an overcomer.

I. HIS CONDITION.

A. DAVID WAS IN DECLINING HEALTH.

B. DAVID WAS DEEPLY HURT.

1. He felt belittled.

2. He felt betrayed.

II. HIS COMPLAINT

A. PEOPLE HAVE TALKED ABOUT ME.

1. They lowered him.

2. They lied about him.

B. PEOPLE HAVE TURNED AGAINST ME.

1. I confided in him.

2. I counted on him.

III. HIS CONFESSION

A. DAVID THE PENITENT.

“I have sinned against thee.”

1. It was personal.

2. It was plain.

3. It was without pretense.

B. DAVID THE PATIENT.

“Heal my soul.”

1. I am hurting.

2. I need healing.

C. DAVID THE PRISONER.

“Be merciful unto me.”

1. I know I am at fault.

2. I ask for forgiveness.
