Summary: A survey of the book of Numbers reveals that it is not just about numbers.
Reasons For Remorse
I. Introduction
Commentary author James Phillip of Holyrood Abbey Church of Scotland says Numbers is a book that need not have been for it is a story of needless doubt and disobedience.
It is a book of census and censure. It is a book of registration and remorse. Chapter 14 of Numbers shows us three reasons for remorse.
II. We Have Reasons For Remorse When . . .
A. We Are Rebellious Instead Of Reverent Toward God. (vs. 1-10)
B. We Are Rejected Instead Of Redeemed By God. (vs. 11-35)
C. We Are Regretful Instead Of Repentant Of Sin. (vs. 36-45)
III. Conclusion
Paul reminds us "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death," (2 Cor. 7:10).
