Summary: Making the best of each day and remaining positive no matter what is going on in our lives

This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24

Sometimes I think that we look at our day all wrong , we get up and stump our toe and maybe burn the toast and the first thing we start to do is complain about how bad the rest of the day is going to be . And then we just have a bad day.

Why do we get that mindset? Why must we complain about the least little thing and not see the greatness of each day.

At least you have a toe to feel pain in at least you had some bread to burn.

I think we need to read this verse and see that it appears we don’t have a choice in the matter we need to read it as a purposeful statement I will rejoice and be glad in it.

It doesn't say if we can rejoice or we might rejoice, or if things are going great we will rejoice.

It says THIS IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE; WE WILL REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN IT.

That's how we need to take this verse as a statement. We need to buy into this statement not just rejoice when things are good but rejoice each day no matter what meets us at sunrise.

Now you may be saying "well you just don't know what I'm going through. If you had my life you wouldn't be rejoicing either." My car broke down, my wife nags me, my husband doesn’t listen to me, and my kids won’t behave. WAAA, WAA, WAA, WAA, WAA. We tend to throw a pity party and want folks to feel sorry for us , and then the person you’re telling this to says well you wouldn’t believe how bad I got it , wa-wa, Waa.

That’s how it works doesn’t it, then pretty soon the whole office is throwing a great big old pity party, and no one even tries to find something to rejoice about.

Why would we want to spend our day down in the dumps because we stumped our toe or burnt our toast? We have got to stopped all of that negativity right in its tracks.

If you start to get on that Pity party train just remember what it says in Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Look God wants you to prosper, He wants good things for you, and you will if you have the right attitude and make godly decisions. And I think part of that is having a positive attitude and rejoicing in each day.

Look I believe that life is what we make it. Are there times when I don't feel like rejoicing? Sure there are , its true for everyone , life sometimes gets us down and we just want to roll over and let it just kick us around. But we can’t do that, we need to rise up and rejoice in each and every day.

Everyone has problems and I'm not going to pretend that I know how everyone is feeling or act like I would be better at dealing with their problems than they are, I promise you I have enough problems of my own that I struggle with each and every day, but I try not to let them steal my joy, I try not to let them get me down. My plan every day is to thank God and rejoice for whatever he has given me whether it is rain or sunshine, whether it is feast or famine, I am going to rejoice.

There are days when all of our plates seem to be running over with problems, too much month and too little money, work problems, family problems, sick family members and being just plain sick and tired of being sick and tired.

We all have a lot on our plates and at times we don't see an end to our troubles and we just don't see a reason to rejoice that’s when we have to dig deep and just trust in the Lord.

We need to claim this verse for our own and just say Devil get off my back because

This is the day the Lord has made and I WILL rejoice and be glad in it.

I'm sure no matter how bad things are we can find reason enough to rejoice each day. Think about it, are you breathing? Are you able to walk? Do you have a roof over your head and shoes on your feet? Those are all reasons to rejoice each day.

I have been to places where people had nothing, I have had a time growing up when we had nothing, no idea where our next meal may be coming from but my mom would start every prayer with Thank you Lord for this day.
