Summary: Easter meg.. on the power Of God

Resurrection power

Matthew 28:1-10

28 Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.

2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door,[a] and sat on it.

3 His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow.

4 And the guards shook for fear of him and became like dead men.

5 But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.

6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

7 And go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”

8 So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy and ran to bring His disciples' word.

9 And as they went to tell His disciples,[b] behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him.

10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.”

A Sunday school teacher was asking her six-year-olds about the meaning of Easter.

“Children,” she said, “Do you know why we celebrate Easter?”

A little girl raised her hand. “Yes Jenny,” said the teacher.

Jenny said, “ Is Easter when we put on costumes and go trick-or-treating?”

“No, Jenny. That’s Halloween.

Does anyone else know?”

A little boy yelled, “It’s when we set off fireworks!”

“No Jimmy, that’s Independence Day.

Anybody else?”

A shy little girl in the back said, “Easter is when Jesus died.”

The teacher replied, “That’s right, April.

And what happened to Jesus that makes Easter special?”

“Well, he died and got buried.

And every Easter he comes out. And if he sees his shadow there are 6 more weeks of winter.”

Jesus began His ministry at the age of 30 years old

That's when John the baptized Him in the Jorden river

He was crucified at the age of 33

We have heard the story,

The story of Easter

Jesus was crucified, on the third day he rose again,

But what if you don’t know the true story of Easter?

I don’t want to present a history lesson because you will drive away thinking that was the most boring preacher ever;

But this morning I want to tell you a story ——thats not a history lesson,

It’s a story about life

It’s a story about Power that is still working today,

It has the same Power today that it had 2,000 years ago.

I am talking about the Resurrection Power of Jesus.

You see when you come to Jesus God puts resurrection power in you.

It’s not just any power, but it’s greater than any power known to man.

You see, God never intended us to go through life beat down and broken full of fear.

He doesn’t want you scared of everything He didn’t leave you powerless

The Bible tells us in

Romans 8:11 the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives on the inside of you.

My goodness Just think about that for a minute

The same power that raised Christ from the dead is in you

Most of us believe that Jesus has power,

But Jesus says “I’m putting the same power in you”.

That same power

That turned the water into wine

That opened blinded eyes

That same power that feed 5,000

That same power that went to the Gadarenes and healed a man who had a legion of Spirits on him

It's the same power that healed a woman who had a blood disorder for 12 years just by touching the hem of His garment

The same power that drove Out Evil Spirits

That healed the Paralytic

That healed the Man with the Withered Hand

It’s that same power that Raised a Widow's Son From the Dead

It healed blind Barnamais

It Cleanses Ten Lepers

And that same power that stood at the grave of Lazarus and called that which was dead out of the grave

That same power that stood up in the middle of a storm and said Peace be still

The same power that commands angel armies

The same power that splits the Red Sea

The same power that can look at the brink of nothing call things that heart as though they are

The same power that said let there be light and there was a light
