Summary: How we need to let God work in us.
SAFE GARDS FOR ALL CHRISTIANS
1. Hearing
Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;
Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
2. Heeding
John 8:47 - He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear [them] not, because ye are not of God.
Proverbs 2:1-5 - My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
John 10:27-28 - My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Mark 4:24 - And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
3. Fearing
Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
4. Laboring
Acts 20: 35I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
5. Following
Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,
Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
6. Looking
And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
7. Obeying
And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
