SALVATION

Romans 1:16

1. The word “SALVATION” implies many IDEAS.

• DELIVERANCE: Luke 11:4 “And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation: but deliver us from evil.”

• HEALING: Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” Lazarus

Death I Peter 2:24 “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes we are healed.

• SOUNDNESS: II Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” James 1:8 “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” Matthew 7:21-23 (workers of iniquity)

2. Salvation is the all inclusive word of the Gospel; it brings all the redemptive acts and processes into its meaning.

• JUSTIFICATION: Romans 5:18-19 “Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.” “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”

• REDEMPTION: Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.”

• GRACE: Romans 3:24 “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:”

• PROPITIATION: Romans 3:25 “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation (Sacrifice) through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God:”

Romans 5:10-11 “For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” “And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.” The Old Testament Sacrifice

• IMPUTATION: Imputation is the act of God whereby He accounts righteousness to the believer in Christ.

Romans 2:23 “And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

• FORGIVENESS: Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” Colossians 1:14 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”

• SANCTIFICATION: To make holy or set apart for God

Romans 15:16 “That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified (set apart) by the Holy Ghost.”

I Corinthians 6:11 “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

• GLORIFICATION

I Corinthians 6:20 “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

We belong to God both spiritually and physically

I Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
