  • Isaac--Fool Me Once, Shame On Me!

Contributed by Jonathan Spurlock on Feb 16, 2021
     | 125 views

Isaac asked his son Esau to prepare a special dinner. Several things happened, though, that changed the family dynamic forever.

Introduction: At the time of this incident, Isaac was considered an old man, and he was afraid he was going to die soon. He asked Esau, his oldest son, to prepare him some food from game Esau would hunt in the fields. The rest of this story is a classic of deceit, in that a family was torn apart ...read more

  • Isaac, Son Of Abraham

Contributed by Jonathan Spurlock on Feb 8, 2021
     | 112 views

Isaac seems to have lived in the shadows of his father (Abraham) and his sons (Esau and Jacob). He is mentioned less than either of these, but he stayed faithful to the God of his father, Abraham. So can we!

Introduction: Isaac does not have as much coverage in the Bible as his father, Abraham, or his sons, Esau and Jacob. He still lived for the True and the Living God, serving Him much as Abraham had done and Jacob would do later on. Isaac outlived both father and son, finally dying at the age of 180. ...read more

Jacob, following an amazing dream in which he saw a ladder or stairway extending between heaven and earth, with the Lord standing above it, exclaimed "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven."

Note: I have developed a simple set of slides in PowerPoint to use in the delivery of this sermon. They're not fancy, but they do help to keep attention focused on the points being presented. If anyone is interested in having the PowerPoint file, email me at sam@srmccormick.net with the word ...read more

  • Studies In Genesis: Chapter 28 Series

Contributed by Edward Hardee on Oct 16, 2011
     | 4,317 views

This is a study of the book of Genesis. Genesis and Revelation are two of the most disputed books in the Bible. The premise of this study is the foundation of creation.

Note: When doing a study on a book in the Bible you use a lot of resources. The major influence for me on this study of Genesis is The Genesis Record by Henry Morris. Title: Jacob at Bethel Jesus made a reference to Jacobs ladder that we read of in chapter 28. Where was this recorded in ...read more

Like Isaac being called by God to be a witness for Him and passing on the "calling" to Jacob, Christians are also called and are to pass the baton of Good News of Christ.

This picture was during the 2008 Olympic Games in China. What can you say about this picture?? A relay running race is a team event in which you have to pass a baton from one teammate to another in order to finish the race. The US Team dropped the baton and was disqualified from the race.
