  • Looking In God's Mirror

Contributed by Bruce Hadley on Jul 27, 2021
     | 102 views

James compares the Word of God to a mirror because you look into a mirror to be able to see yourself in effort to make changes to your appearance. Looking in the Holy Scriptures is like looking in a mirror. It reveals to us as God sees what’s in us.

James 1:22-24 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. ...read more

  • Religion That Makes A Difference Series

Contributed by David Owens on Jul 5, 2021
     | 612 views

James uses very confrontational language as he drives home the point that if we don't put God's Word into practice, then why did we bother to hear it. Religion that makes a difference is religion leads to godly language, godly love, and godly lifestyle.

Introduction: A. I heard about a man who came into worship late one Sunday. 1. He asked someone in the back of the auditorium, “Is the sermon done yet?” 2. The person wisely answered, “The sermon has been preached, but it has yet to be done.” 3. Wow! You talk about a statement that is truthful and ...read more

Jesus’ message was designed for religious outsiders. There’s something beautiful in the way those on the outside react when they first hear the gospel.
