We need to learn how to make the most of opportuntities to participate in God’s redemptive work.
Shakespeare once wrote:
"there is a tide in the affairs of men, Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life Is bound in shallows and in miseries."
The Latins had a phrase that expressed the same idea:
"Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero,"
