Shall We Walk Together? HHM

Pastor Jim Parisi 12-08-02

We as Christians all belong to the body of Christ

It is one body made up of many different members

Story : Heart. Brain ,lowly foot or asylum lunatics never unite

The foot put it in to perspective for them we all need each other

And like any other body will it be a body of believers or an organization or even natural body like our own.

The body can only function and obtain its true calling and purpose if it is in unity.

Even when we don’t understand we should try to go along till we do

There were once two newlyweds on their honeymoon. They were taking a train ride cross country. The bride was becoming a little self conscious about all the fanfare of being a new married couple. She just wanted some quite time alone with her new husband, So she came up with a plan.

She said to her husband…Oh John! … in the next town let’s pretend we are an old married couple that has been together for a long time. Can we do this my love?

The husband scratched his head perplexed and confused, because he didn’t want to look like he wasn’t considerate of his new bride. (like most Husbands…. Not understanding at first see he was Clueless on AMTRACK) So Going along with her needs. with a smile as big as a sunrise he spoke out to his bride with a boyish grin

OK honey… when we get off the train at the next stop “YOU CARRY the Suitcases

Even though he didn’t understand… he didn’t want to disappoint his new bride. He wanted to be a team player. He loved her and went along with her little game.

What organism or group can grow and function if there is strife and discord amongst its own members.

Paul knew this well and he spoke about it to the saint’s of that day

We see here in Ephesians 4 where he is pressing the point of how this body of one…. has many components and facets

But is still one body… joined together

Ephesians 4 1-6 1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

NLT Eph 4:1 Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.

1 Thessalonians 2: 12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

1 Cor 1:9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

What a gift what a blessing to be called to into the fellowship of the Lord, all I have to do is try and walk worthy.

Another word in the strongs for worthy is… suitably which is also properly or correctly

You have to try to live a correct life…. one in agreement with this book

VS2 NKJ 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,

NLT Eph 4:2 2 Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.

Because of your love… not only to each other… but to the Father.

So we can bless Him by serving and loving His children

Col 3:14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.

The glue of perfection… so it could be said.

NKJ VS 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

VS3 NLT Eph 4: 3 Always keep yourselves united in the Holy Spirit, and bind yourselves together with peace.

Who in this Holiday season is the Prince of Peace? Jesus Christ.

NKJ ISA 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

All power will be upon His shoulders. The Prince of Peace, a righteous ruler

NKJ Vs 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;

NLT Rom 12:5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are all parts of his one body, and each of us has different work to do. And since we are all one body in Christ, we belong to each other, and each of us needs all the others.
