Have you ever had a time with a very godly person? Perhaps its your pastor or another christian leader you admire. I remember when I had a opportunity to visit with a leader in the body of Christ that I admire and am blessed by. As I sat with him I remember looking into his eyes and feeling the love of Jesus Christ through that brother and the feeling I had was that he had only good intentions to encourage me so I started to share all my deep-seated struggles and troubles with him. The reason why I started to share these things was that I knew he could help me or at least he would not judge or condemn me.
We see this in the Lord also in this passage that he shares with the people of Israel that he has good plans and peace towards them. He was saying basically I am the answer to all your problems and concerns, yes I have been punishing you by allowing you to go to Babylon for 70 years but I still have a future and hope for you. Do you feel because of your past sins or your present circumstance that God is there to judge you and condemn you? If you are a child of God He has a good hope and future for you. There are at times great consequences to sin in this life but if we repent and come back to the Lord He will always be there with love and acceptance in his eyes like a Father who loves unconditionally. Come to the Lord today and look into his eyes, you will perhaps surprisingly find that He is there to help and encourage you to fulfill his good will and purposes in your life.
